Hi everyone,
Just to say hello, I live in Eastleigh (about 6 miles from Southampton) in England and play a 1986 Japanese Squier Strat as well as an acoustic Fender DG20S. I've just bought a Mustang GT40 amp.
I like all kinds of music, but in the guitar world my favourite is definitely Pink Floyd!

Hi, welcome to the Fender Forum. Replies can be a little slower here compared with Strat-Talk etc but this is a great place to learn about anything Fender (Squier).
You're just around the corner from me then, compared to the majority of members.
Pink Floyd (and still David Gilmour) are a great inspiration for me and my current Squier Bullet build is going to be Gilmourish.

Thanks VintageBrit,
Good luck with the build. I'm finding that the GT40 with its ability to chain together all sorts of effects is a great choice for trying to nail those Gilmour tones!

Always glad to have a new member from Jolly Old, Pigletboy. PF and Gilmour are certainly great to emulate. Have fun here.

Welcome

FYI, don't get on any planes with a bunch of other guys about your age flying over the sea.
It won't end well for you.

Welcome aboard Pigletboy.

I have fond memories of driving through Southampton, on the two occasions when I've gone there to catch the boat for a cruise holiday.

Cheers Steve,
It's not so bad as long as you don't get caught in all of the traffic lights we've got here!

William Golding was your fellow countryman, was he not?

Perhaps you are too young for the joke?

I can't wait until you post a query about if this guitar looks fake or not.
I'll be all like:
"Get your glasses fixed, young fella. It's fine."
