I have owned a couple Ibanez guitars for years. I have a 1985 Roadstar II and a 2001 SZ. I am 42 and have owned the RS since I was 15. I never really tried to learn guitar very seriously at all until a few months ago. Always intended to but something else always occupied my time. About 3 months ago I decided it was now or never and I started really trying to learn how to play. I told my wife once I get good enough to warrant it I want a Les Paul. Boy how things have changed. The shop near my house is a Fender dealer. I was killing time one day and ran into an MIM Arctic white Telecaster. I was playing a USA Strat and the shop owner pulled the Tele off the wall. He said it was the nicest set up Tele he had gotten in years including the USA models. I never thought I was a Fender guy, certainly not a Tele guy, and absolutely not a white Fender Tele guy. Boy was I WRONG. The guitar dang near plays itself. I was immediately in love. I told my wife Les was out and told her about the Tele. The next day she ran out and surprised me with it. I could not be happier. It's a beautiful looking and playing guitar. I know a lot of people don't care for the MIM pickups but they sound excellent to me. I have played it several hours each day in the two weeks I have had it. I can't put it down. It's the perfect guitar for me.

Hi ffjoey,

I enjoyed reading your post and can relate to your story (sort of). I am a 48 year old female who started learning to play bass about 3 years ago. I had a starter-pack (poor quality) bass and amp set up and wasn't getting anywhere but frustrated so I gave the bass away. A while later I got a Squier full scale Jaguar bass and enjoyed learning but found myself struggling with the size of the bass and my interest dropped again. Then I learned about the Fender Mustang PJ Bass which is a short scale. From then on I was on a mission to get one. I sold two guitars that hubby had bought me when I thought I wanted to learn how to play guitar (he okayed the plan :) ). A couple of phone calls later we purchased one and have been playing my Mustang since. I love it! I have a total of 5 basses in different shapes and sizes and the Mustang is by far the cream of the crop. The construction, the size, the weight - it all just fits together so well and makes learning a joy.

Enjoy your Telecaster - it's great to have a hobby that you look forward to. I spend most of my evenings practicing because it's fun. Hello from the Florida Panhandle.

Wow! That is a pretty similar story! It is nice to have an instrument that just feels right, makes the hobby a joy instead of a chore. Thanks for the greeting and the story.

Two terrific stories showing love for Fender.

First let me welcome you to the Forum ffjoey. Great introduction ffjoey and perfect follow up, eharrell. Isn't it great to have support from your spouse or partner. That's how I got my Strat. :D
Enjoy those great guitars. I look forward to your participation here.

Welcome to the forum. Nice to hear about your Tele, I have a few MIM Teles and find the pickups to be quite good, I've never considered swapping them for other pickups.

And just for the record here we do like to see pics of your guitars. :D
