Hi I am a musician, singer and songwriter from Zürich, Switzerland. I play Guitar since over 20 years and I guess, most of the time it's been a Fender. My main amp during all the time and doing the job on 3 albums was an AC30. Most recently I also discovered Fender Amps and I can tell you: I'm a believer now! I played merely Teles, but at the moment my main Guitars are a Jaguar, frankensteined together out of many different parts, and a 72 Tele Deluxe Reissue. No Strats. I like the unusual, I like bastards, also breaking every possible purist rule sucessfully since 1995 such as putting Humbuckers and Bigsbies on Teles, Buzz Stops on Jaguars (I removed it though, it sucked), hanging tons of stomp boxes in the signal without caring too much about noise, using almost NOTHING that's older than 20 years... and most recently I did a capital sin: I bought a REISSUE Deluxe Reverb. But hey, I'm sorry! Do you have any idea what a real vintage amp costs in Switzerland? Do you have any idea what anything costs here anyway? You need to be rich to play vintage gear! Anyway, I'm happy with most of the stuff. Nice to meet you people and looking forward to talk about gear!

Great introduction, Moulinmatias. When you talked of how much vintage gear costs in Switzerland, I thought you might be talking about Canada. Just kidding, as I can only guess your costs. Looking forward to your posts.

Thanks for the warm welcome, nice to meet you guys too!

some people in forums write things like "for the price of a new reissue you can buy a vintage amp" and I think what the *** are you talking about? Maybe in the states but not here. You pay the triple prize for everything that's somehow considered vintage. Also paying obscene high custom taxes when ship it from abroad, mostly to preserve local economy but in my opinion, It just keeps me buying reissue stuff...

The re-issue amps are acceptable for most purposes, especially if they've been hand-massaged to enhance their tone and reliability. But if you want an amp that's never been re-issued then the only recourse is to pay the premium price. And rest assured, vintage gear is not dirt cheap here in the USA either.

Now if only re-issue gear could become vintage . . . then that would be added value. :P

I've got a DRRI that's almost a quarter of a century old -- does that qualify?

It certainly does, Arjay; but, as with everything of value, it remains primarily of value to the owner until the buyer arrives. I'm sure there's no problem here; but, many things of value change over time (often with missed opportunity, and timing), and some trends collect dust. For now there is interest, but tomorrow?

It may be more prudent to say that one thing has more value than another rather than to assume the value will be permanent. Then again if something ever becomes worth nothing then it is fair to assume the copy has an equal value.
