Hello, my name is Steve and as you can probably guess from my username, upright bass is my primary instrument. I live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida and I gig regularly as a freelance jazz bassist. I also play with a six-piece vintage jazz band and I occasionally perform with my daughter who is a sing/songwriter.

While the majority of my work is on upright, I still have occasion to play electric bass which is my first instrument. I've always been a Fender fan and I've played the same '62 reissue Jazz Bass since 1988. I've owned a few other Fender basses as well, and my recently acquired '74 Precision is a keeper.

I look forward to talking with other Fender bass fans here!

- Steve

Hello Steve, welcome to the Forum. I play a Fender precision bass. There are many guitar and amp guru's here. Enjoy !

As a drummer who played rock and jazz both during my school years, and sitting in with trios and a big band later in life, I know how valuable a really good bass player can be. IMHO they are often underrated, and more often underappreciated if not by musicians (seldom) by the audience. Still, there are the faithful and, rock has helped spread this popularity (even more with sub woofers)(jazz fans have historically appreciated bass). So with that in mind, welcome to the Forum, Steve. You're in good company. Enjoy!
