Hey guys, apologies if I'm posting in the wrong forum. Please feel free to re-direct me :)

I just bought an American Deluxe Strat from a legit shop. I think it's last year's model and it was on sale for the same price as the American standard which was also on sale. Since the deluxe is what I really wanted I tried it and bought it.

Once I got home after playing it a bit I realized there seems to be a problem with the guitar input jack. Something is not right because when I plug the cord in, it clicks but it's not snug and has wiggle room. Not sure if I'm explaining that right? I can move the cable end around when it's plugged into the guitar and as you can imagine the sound cuts out. Seems like a minor issue and not to sound like a noob but I'm a bit bummed as it's my first expensive guitar. Funny that my cheap ones never had issues lol.

What do you guys think? Should I just bring it back to the shop and ask that they fix it or forget about it and get a refund. Other then that the guitar is gorgeous I'm just paranoid that one thing will lead to another. Thanks.

Cheers
Marty

It is not input jack it is a output jack

Easy to fix .

1- return guitar to the shop it is on waranty

or

2- remove 2 screw of the jack plate , pull gently , bend the jack contact

you can try your guitar cord in the jack see what hapenned before bending contact

If it is a American Deluxe, keep it . Not sure ,post some picture ; close up at the peg head front an rear , bridge ,pickups , serial number

Hey dude, thanks so much for replying. I thought that might be the case but I feel better to have it confirmed by someone more experienced like you. Sorry to reply so late. I was actually at the shop this morning. The guys looked at the output jack and felt it was best to just replace it. I had to leave the guitar with them since their tech guy was out for the day but should have it back tomorrow. Hopefully a the new jack will fix it. The Strat and Tele I was renting before buying this one were so tight I really had to pull hard to get the cord out lol

Yeah it's definitely a deluxe. I wanted to attach pics but I can't figure it out. This interface is pretty old fashioned :)

Sounds like a very minor issue, Stratele is right it is real simple to just remove the jack and bend the contact to tighten it up. Sounds like a great guitar, have fun! Welcome aboard.

The guy at the guitar shop replace the output jack .

Like many " fake " tech he can't see what is wrong.

Yep it was easy. All sorted. I picked it up today and it works great. Na not a fake tech dude. They replaced the jack because it was useless. Bending the metal arm inside was not good enough. The cord still had tons of wiggle so the didn't screw around. I wonder why it was like that in there first place though. I guess it happens when producing lots of products. I'm just glad it's fixed:) Thanks guys you're awesome
