Using a higher power speaker let you hear the amp sound . Using low power speaker let you hear more the speaker .

I read that in one of Gerarld Weber's books , no link for now :(

You might also consider replacing the existing speaker, depending on what exactly you're trying to accomplish. That seems to be a fairly common thing with SCXDs and in fact I did it with mine. It's a relatively simple swap even for a non-tech -- no soldering needed and you can get the original out only having to remove the back.

All the principles mentioned so far apply -- you need an 8 ohm speaker and I would go with at least a 25W rating. However, if you're planning on cranking it, go for more. In my case, after reading descriptions, listening to sound clips and so on, I chose a 75W Copperhead. That and comparable speakers match well with the amp and power and I (like a lot of other posters) have been happy with the mod.

I experience a customer who put a 50 watts speaker in a Blackface Deluxe Reverb .When cranked sound is crappy . He try a powerfull speaker and sound lots better .

Original speaker in BF original Deluxe Reverb is 100 watts for a 22 watts amps

Good points! The SCXD is 15 watts but you have to consider "peak" power as well. 15W is the nominal power but hitting a chord (try an open E) will create many harmonics and push the speaker. The power section can have momentary peaks of over 15W ... hence the value of the 75W speaker.

The OP also (as is often mentioned in these forums) needs to consider what he plays and how. This is where I disclaim that I run amps on 3 - 4, use modest OD, never any distortion or heavy fuzz. I use the SCXD's clean models or sometimes the Acoustic setting as a make do for acoustic playing. Most of what I do is heavily Jazz influenced blues and takes on classic rock. I'm typically working with singers who aren't belt em out types.

If you're playing metal, heavy distortion, amp running on 8+ the whole gig ... different story. Then just exactly as Stratele52 says -- look into a 100W speaker. You would probably also want one that's voiced more for what your style is.
