I'm extremely frustrated with the mustang expression pedal, it's probably me and my lack of understanding the protocols, but nonetheless, all I want is for the pedal to operate as a volume and wah for every channel. Both are set at volume and I just need a little help. I understand that I have to set up each channel... I just want do one and I'll be thrilled. If we could start as if it was fresh out of the box.

Hi teleman5372, there is a Mustang amps section of the forum where a question like this would get more attention:

Mustang™ I / II / III / IV / V / Mini / Floor
viewforum.php?f=27

I. OK so first you will need to connect the EXP-1 to the amp. Connect it where the 4-button footswitch connects to the back of the amp. Then if you want to use the 4-button footswitch, connect it directly to the EXP-1. The jacks are clearly labeled.

II. You should calibrate the pedal (separate subject).

III. Once the pedal is connected and calibrated, connect the amp to the computer with a USB cable and load Fender FUSE. Then follow these steps:

1. Open the preset you want to edit.
2. Add a Stomp Box to the preset. Then select Wah as the Stomp Box.
3. Press CTRL+E to add the pedal to the preset.
4. In the Expression Pedal Settings dialog box that pops up, choose the following:

Pedal Default Mode: From Preset
Preset Defaults to: Volume Pedal
Volume Mode Behavior: Volume
Heel Volume: 0%
Toe Volume: 100%
Expression Mode Behavior: Stomp Box
Parameter: FREQ
Heel Setting: 0%
Toe Setting: 100%
Pedal Mode: Capture
Bypass effect when switching to Volume Mode: Selected (checked)
Reset parameter to preset value when switching to Volume Mode: Deselected (unchecked)

5. Click OK.

Now when the EXP-1 pedal light is GREEN, it is a volume pedal. When the EXP-1 light is RED, it's a wah pedal. Press the pedal to change.

Once you've played with it for a while, you can make some changes to suit your taste. Particularly the Heel and Toe settings in Expression Mode - those may need to be tweaked.
