I am a 58 Years old male and want to learn to play electric or acoustic guitar.
Can't read music. This is my first attempt.
Which guitar is recommended for learning?

Telecaster lacks the complexity of the tremolo and is available in a couple of different pickup configurations.
That's going to be the easiest to learn on, and will last the rest of your life with a couple of fret jobs.
There's nothing wrong with learning on a Strat, but the tremolo can make tuning and setup tricky. Unless you have a friend who can help you, it can be frustrating.

Often, the Mustand or DuoSonic are recommended as student guitars, but that's because they have a shorter neck which is generally better for pre-teen players with smaller hands.

I'd recommend an electric instead of an acoustic. Unless you're spending quite a lot of $€£ on the guitar, electrics are just that much easier to play. Plus the early practicing period isn't a joy for other ears, so headphones are recommended.

And I agree with keeping it simple (= no tremolo).
A Telecaster is a good option, but (depending on your finger strength) I absolutely would not rule out the short scale models, if you like the way a Mustang/DuoSonic looks.

One hint: which ever guitar you choose, have it set up by a good pro when it's new. The 80ish price is money very well spent.

I would recommend hitting a music store or five with a friend that knows guitars (provided you have a friend that knows guitars) and, with his/her advice, pick the one that "feels right" and is within your budget.

Also, if you go electric, don't skimp on the amp. A competent, budget guitar played through a good amp will sound better than a Custom Shop played through a $40 practice amp. You won't appreciate the difference now so much, but as your skill grows you won't want to be bound by the limitations of a crap amp.
