I have a Fender Pro 185 with footswitch for channel, reverb, boost, and want to start using some effects pedals but I'm not sure of the order considering that the amp has gain and reverb. My intent is to use a tube screamer and a delay, possibly a tremolo. I would put them in that order (I think), but where does the reverb and the gain from the amp fall in that chain? Or should I not use a Tube Screamer if there is already gain on the amp? Also, same question if I use the 'effects loop" input/outputs. Anyone have this amp? Any suggestions/help is appreciated. Thx.
This is the amp

Welcome to the forum!

Onboard gain is produced in the pre-amp stage.
https://www.fender.com/articles/tech-talk/amp-basics-gain-vs-volume

Which do you like better, the TS or your amp's on-board gain? Have you tried using them together? Stacking dirt can be a lot of fun, and the bottom line is that you should do whatever you like - this is anarchy, there are no rules.

Here is a good read on the subject of pedal placement, although I am definitely not schilling for Strymon.
https://www.strymon.net/setting-up-your-effect-signal-chain/

Bottom line - take it all with a grain of salt, and experiment with your own rig. Play around until you find what works best for you, then start blasting away like the guitar god you where born to be.

Let us know what do.

The standard order but by no means the only way.
Feel free to experiment.
I always place my EQ last in the chain since almost all pedals will affect EQ in some way.
With the EQ last in the chain I can compensate for whatever's going on in front of it.
A Tube Screamer, for example, pushes the low mids more than I like.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Personally, I would try this order:

FRONT OF THE AMP
1. Tube Screamer

EFFECTS LOOP
1. Tremolo
2. Delay

I like the delay pedal after everything else. Just a preference.

In this scenario, the signal path is:

GUITAR  Tube Screamer  Amp input  Amp gain and reverb  Tremolo  Delay

Something you can try with that Tube Screamer: Crank the LEVEL all the way up and turn the GAIN all the way down. Now start playing and increase the GAIN until you get a nice slightly-fuzzy-but-still-clean sound. Stevie Ray Vaughan used his TS9 that way.
