There was a question about bebop.
Nice subject, try wikipedia.

I recommend the Charlie Parker Omnibook for starters.
There are numerous resources like audio/midi files,
this is the core of Jazz,
a minimum of 2 years of exhaustive study is necessary

Before I go into this overwhelming style, I will feed you with some Blues, obviously.
1st on my list is a tune by the Marshall Tucker Band:

"Everyday I got the Blues".

The Marshall Tucker Band - Where We All Belong (1974)

Go 4 it at Wikipedia, a classic.

The sound is easy, a Strat in a Twin all cranked up,
played with fingers instead of a pick with slight distortion,
achieved by right-hand attack.
Due to the balance of pre- and power amp, depending on
your use of a SC or HB, whatever will work, its fine
If u are not into southern rock, here's your chance
to pay tribute to Willie Nelson

Reach out for the swing feel 1st

You seem quite hungry for a statement, as the numerous remarks imply. So be patient, I am.
Found another impressive example of the blues in an uptempo fashion, written by an ole' buddy of Jhonny Winter, Rick Derringer,
called, obviously, "Let the Good Times Roll", published on "Blues deLuxe".
A hint: "Now's The Time" and "Bessie's Blues" by Charlie Parker,
share the same progression.
Two for one - sound like cool deal

Can't stress enough the urge of being able to read and write,
like any instrumentalist does, besides the guitar player !
You would not be able to read this text if somebody had not told you which burger to choose from instead of a pictogram. Sad!

Today, anyone with a computer has access to a DAW.
They all have in common a score function and even a piano-roll.
You can put in notes via your guitar or graphically by moving bars
horizontally, thus determine a note's length, rhythm, which seems to be the most complicated, but nonetheless most important part of music - learn as much as possible, it will repay you later.
Experiment and get used to these functions,
save all files for further reference

As you might have noticed already,
the difference between Rock and Bebop is as such:

There is a distinctive rhythm and a melody like a meme.
Once it got you, it will accompany your life for hours, days, weeks...

Unfortunately, most of these rhythms and melodies
were invented in the 1940ies,
a ragged time with unbelievable conditions for musicians.
Some clearence came in the 1970ies with the arise of
funk Big Bands, like Chicago, Earth, Wind & Fire, Blood, Sweat & Tears and later Supercharge,
to name just a few. Listen for yourself.
In between lies a specific case:
Supersax.
Supersax, Med Flory's idea, played Parker compositions
but not only the theme, but also the soli in 5-part harmony.
It can not get any crazier since Manhattan Transfer.
It sounds, like you have been hit by a sledgehammer.
This is what the idea of a harmonizer is all about.
Charlie Parker was a candle burning on both ends.
When he died, a coroner said, "I am looking at a man in his 60ies.
Parker was 34.
Nonetheless he created a style like Bach or Beethoven and left us
with compositions summed up in the Charlie Parker Omnibook.
This is where you start.
There even is a compilation of audio files of all the compositions
in their original version so you will be able to read while you listen.
On Jamie Aebersold is a recording minus ONE, the melody,
so you can play along with a rhythm section on some tunes.

Back to the beginning, 'cause that's where my heart is:

We guitar players waste a lot of our precious time fiddling around,
trying to break the record of how fast can you play "Bumblebee":

This is fine, but does it fill a repertoire list that will allow you
to feed the family? Definitely not.

Music is rhythm 1st and melody

I am for sure aware of the fact,
I am putting way too much information in here.

Get used to it, this is the nature of Bebop:

Everything is happening at maximum speed -
The next rent, the next meal, the next cup of coffee...
As you might have guessed: The next tune

Time flies

Even reading:
You should be able to read diagonally.
I used to read 5 books per week simultaneously.
You can do that too.
There are books that teach this method.
Apply it to music.

Steve Vai, one of the fine players this planet has ever seen,
joined the Mothers of Invention by transcribing a Zappa tune
and sending a recording and the written transcription to Zappa.

He later transcribed "Shut up and play your Guitar"
one of the most crazy textbooks I have ever seen.

So for now, this is exactly what I do now

There is a movie you should know:

"Zappas Universe_1991"

According to FZ "it smells funny"

There are different reasons you said so:

1. You haven't read the above
2. You are too lazy to work on the subject
3. You do not know how to read or you might be deaf

In any major city BeBop around the globe is everywhere -
In your cafe, in elevators, in book stores, even at the dentist.
Why, because it has found its way into everyday life.
People born in the 40ies are now what, your father, your
grandfathers, dead ?
You just don't recognise it as such because it has been smoothed.
The main reason is the bigbands could no longer finance
20+ musicians and their families.
The big hotels have a dj, the crusade ships have a dj too.

Even Brian Setzer gave up his orchestra after loosing big money.

So what the heck you might ask ?
Bebop is the foundation, it opened new worlds of
thinking about music (as can be seen here by reading about
all these crude ideas from last century still exist in our heads)

Btw., I do not see a major amount of these high-speed players
to be remembered in the next 50 years.
But Parker, Monk, Miles, Armstrong, Coltrane -
I hear them every day - a quote in a movie, a commercial et al

Meaning there are no new BeBop artists, just unknown musicians imitating the BeBop artists of that time, and those old recordings playing in elevators. And Brian Setzer has a reported net worth of $6.5 million.

Well . . .

The following article, which I found a good read being a longtime jazz and rock fan, is one expert’s opinion. It may clarify whether Be Bop exists in recent times (albeit the article is 1996). It speaks of jazz and pop and Be Bop is a big part of the article throughout.

My pleasure, SBLS. It’s obvious Francis Davis has it together, and the interview was well done IMHO. Glad you enjoyed it as I did Bro’.

Great Gene Vincent selection, SBLS.

The story behind the story:

Now ya know.

My thoughts are that there are songs that speak of bebop, but they are themselves not guaranteed bebop. I do believe that, like all music that has come before, bebop has found a way to influence rock - not all rock, but possibly progressive and/or improvisational rock and blues, and maybe the odd free form psychedelic composition with some electronic music being suspicious of also falling into that abyss.

Without going into it, and admitting that I may be talking outa my hat (nothin’ new thar’), that is my gut feeling. :P Also, I’m considering that there are jazz and blues personnel and practices in the rock genre. Can this rock adoption ever be
taken as the same as bebop? I doubt it. But, there are components of bebop that have the ability to be shared elsewhere.

Just sayin’ as one who subscribed to Downbeat magazine as a kid.
