Hello everyone I have never played an instrument and am finally going to learn and have decided on a Squier bass. The issue I’m having is I’m on a budget and I don’t understand the difference between the Vintage Modified Jazz Bass or the Vintage Modified 70’s Jazz Bass. Is it all cosmetic? Worth the extra little bit of money? Thank you!!

Hi & welcome.

As far as playability, sound, endurance and other such practical-technical features are considered, there is no crucial difference between the models you mention.

But you may have some personal preferences, and those really do have an effect on your playing. An instrument you love will get a lot more playing time than one you just tolerate.

One very important thing: even if you're on a budget, do not skip on a proper setup. An experienced friend could do it, and teach you the basics while doing the process. But if you don't know anyone suitable, the about 80 $€£ a pro would charge for an "initial setup for a new instrument" is money very well spent.

All of the above, IMHO of course.

well, My bass is an SX short scale jazz bass copy from Rondo Music. It's a good place, I guess, to know for beginner level instruments, but it's an online forum so you don't get to play them in real life. Luckily, hope I can meet up professionals and bass lovers here anyway.
