Hi,
I have few questions:
1) Does the channel 1 use preamp valve?
2) Can I use USB to connect to laptop and connect headphones to the computer? Will the speaker be turned off using this strategy? Using this option will there any tubes involved or it will be pure digital amp?
3) How is the sound when playing at low volumes as the poweramp will not get any work out?
4) When I use line out to connect to computer, will the speakers be muted? Will the power amps be used using this option?
5) How is the touch sensitivity using the options 2, 3 and 4?

Thanks for your input as it will help me decide if I should go for this amp as I already have a digital amp Zoom G2.1u.

1) The general consensus seems to be that the 12ax7 is a phase inverter, and not what we think of as a preamp tube. To my knowledge, Fender hasn't officially said.

2) No idea- I've never tried it...

3) It sounds very good at low volumes. I'm an apartment dweller, and have to play at low volume 90% of the time. You do get some extra body and "feel" from the tube power section (vs an all digital/solid state modeller like the Mustang) True, you won't be overdriving it at bedroom levels, but it does make it's presence known.

4) Not sure you'd want to use the line out for that. It's basically the send of an fx loop- the signal is at line level. I'm not a computer guy by any means, but I can't imagine that sending that kind of current into your computer would do it any good. This signal is intended to be sent to a power amp or a PA system.

4a) Yes- plugging into the line out bypasses the power amp and speaker. Just as if you'd plugged in to the fx send, but not the return.

5) There is some touch sensitivity, but, like any tube amp it needs SOMETHING to work with if you want to use your guitar volume to switch between clean and dirty. Same goes for playing dynamics. You need to have an amp up around the break up point to do that well. I have turned it up and controlled my overall volume by picking very softly, or riding the vol knob on the guitar- that works really well. ( just don't forget you're doing that and hit the strings hard or crank it- for 15 watts, this amp has a good set of lungs...)

I highly doubt it. It's not like plugging headphones into a laptop, and killing sound to the external speakers of the laptop. A USB connection from laptop to ANY device has (in my experience) never been able to cancel external sound, unless there is a separate control in the software that is designed for just that.
I'm not yet familiar with the Fuse software...but I can't picture it.

Now; on the Combo or Head SCX2 you CAN unplug the amp speaker (not the out-put jack), and run an instrument cable (something designed to transfer sound) into a PA or Tuner, and use headphones THAT way.

"2) Can I use USB to connect to laptop and connect headphones to the computer? Will the speaker be turned off using this strategy?"

I tried this, quite a while ago. I had the SCX2 plugged into a macBook via the USB cable. I had Garageband running on the Mac. I turned the amp volume off, and the USB Gain setting above 50%, maybe at 100%. Using headphones plugged into the macBook, I could hear my guitar through Garageband, and the SCX2 speaker was silent. So, it did in fact work for headphones. I also have a Mustang I, and it's easier to use that when I want to use headphones. I tried the SCX2 just to see if it worked.
