I'm really happy with my Superchamp X2, but for a couple of days now I have this strange issue: while I'm playing, it suddenly switches to Channel 2 (no footswitch attached). It seems to have a will of its own...

Did anybody notice the same thing, or is there anybody who knows a solution?

Thanks in advance!

Hi kevinswaelens,

Thanks for your post. This is, of course, not expected behavior. I would suggest trying a reset (press/hold the Tap button for several seconds until the LED lights solid, then release). The amp will then reset. Once this is complete, please test to confirm if the issue has been resolved. If the behavior that you are describing is still present, we would recommend that you get the amp to a Fender® Authorized Service Center. Please see the link below to locate the service center nearest to you. If you are outside of North America, please contact the music retailer where you purchased the amp for support. And please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan

I KNOW, Fender has issues with that amp, and the whole Mustang line. My Mustang I V2 jumps to flanging/chorusing at will. According to a Fender authorized repair tech nearby, Fender puts their hands over their eyes and won't own up to a failed design, nor give a software update that multitudes have asked for.
I have reset back to deleting all my presets 4 times, same problems, no footswitch, and not connected USB to my computer. I had faith in the company, since 1971, buying confidently until now. Thank goodness it is just a practice amp at $100 that I wasted, and I have another amp that I built to use without issues.I would suggest selling it and go with something else out there.

I did the reset-thing they suggested a few days ago, and until now, the random switching didn't happen anymore...

I'm quite aware, that you can't expect te same quality from a cheaper amp, so I'm not complaining yet... Apart from that issue, the Super Champ works really good...

Probably I'll buy a better amp in the near future, but I think I'll keep the Champ none the less...

While I agree about expected quality in cheaper (lower cost) products, at $380, I wouldn't call the Super Champ a low cost amplifier. My Mustang 1, at $100, is low cost. I may be wrong, but I'd expect higher quality in the Super Champ.

Glad to hear that doing a reset solved your problem.

I realize $100, or $380 is not chump change,ok. BUT, for Fender to put their name on something that is clearly junk is just plain bad business. It will be a LONG time if ever, before I buy any new series amp with Fender on it and I'll stick to my old ones that have paid for themselves gigging. Using Fender products for 45 years , this one hurts. It seems the marketing team beat the engineering team out of the quality gate.

I wondered if by "until now" you meant it had come back. Thanks for clarifying. Like you, I've used Fender amps for a long time. My first one was purchased in the mid 60's. I agree that the drop in quality is disappointing. It seems to be prevalent in most electronic products these days (TVs, computers, appliances, etc.). I've worked as an engineer in the electronics industry since 1975. A bit more attention to how the circuit boards are fabricated and the quality of the solder job would go a long, long way to improving product quality of just about anything. The companies save a little money, but I think they're wrong in thinking the customer would want to pay a few dollars less and accept a poor quality product. A price increase of 10%, spent in the right design and manufacturing areas, would likely yield a huge increase in quality. and most consumer would gladly pay it. Today's business model is just messed up.
