For this recipe, you'll need:

Gibson Firebird guitar.
Fender SuperChamp x2
ears

Directions.

1) Plug guitar into amp.

2) switch to bridge pickup, and turn volume down to 6.

3) go to modelling channel on amp, and turn to option 14(?)- Super Sonic.

4) adjust Gain to appx 8, and volume to 2.

5) in fx section switch to delay +Reverb, and adjust down to taste.

6) play.

Amp should now magnify ANY slight touch to the strings manyfold. With volume on guitar turned down, it will sing with tone. for. days. Roll it up, and the amp will howl and roar like a beast- STILL with to-die-for tone. Definitely a "lead" tone.

The delay makes a very cool sound on full stops w/muted strings- it's like it's repeating the reverb wash!

Switching pickups led to more really good sounds. For whatever reason, I was really diggin the bridge pickup today.

Great Googly-Moogly! What too me so long to play with this setting???

I did try it out a couple of times before, and wasn't that impressed. Just sounded like another high gain distortion choice. Must be the choice of guitar- it sure as hell didn't sound nasty and fizzy this time! I also discovered that lots of gain seems to unlock an inner tone beast in this guitar. ( I've mainly been playing with bluesy and classic rock sounds with this guitar. However, today I learned that a Firebird DOES metal/hard rock too!)

Just had to share my excitement with all y'all.

On the X2, 13 is the Super Sonic Burn patch as it comes from the factory, 14 is a high gain metal type of amp I forget the name, but I used 13 on my just sold X2 as my go to overdrive patch. I did tweak 13 in Fuze quite a bit before I got just the right sound.

13 it is, then. I was using the list in my owner's manual to find out what it was. This one is a real gem!

the "right" guitar (for the tone) always helps though. I can't remember which one I was using before, but it was likely my USA Strat, or my CV Tele- and that tone was NOT what I was looking for at the time.

Next up- what'll it do with P90's? ( I have a hankering to play my SG. Too late at night, now)

I'm pretty sure that 14 represents a Mesa Boogie model, while 15 emulates a Soldano. The visual representations in Fuse are the giveaway.
The P90's should sound great in any of the high gain applications. Have fun!
