So, I now have my own hand built, custom designed watts, ohms and color Weber speaker. It is an alnico. 10A150H. H is for hemp cone. It is one of their Jensen vintage designs with the ceramic version being based on the Jensen C10N. This is my third replacement speaker for this amp. I've come to realize that a speaker fetish has developed. All in the name of TONE. And, because it is fun and I can at this time.

My only other Weber is the Sig 8S. A very articulate speaker, an absolute gem for what it is and costs. The 10A150H a work of aural art. After breaking it in for about 30 hours with varying volumes, I could finally hear what the future of this speaker would sound like. This speaker replaces an Emi Lil Buddy, which has a ceramic speaker and hemp cone. The alnico magnet adds that 'space' and jangle in a more pronounced fashion than ceramic, IMO. My simple biased breakdoen is alnico adds a tubey sound and ceramic is punchy and a reliable like transistors. No SAG. I find that ceramic and alnico play very well together in speaker blending. The ultimate pursuit in my speaker fetish.

This speaker is 8 ohms a 50 watts. Same as Lil Buddy.

This speaker turns my Tele into three guitars. Each pick-up selection brought me to new world of sound. I never heard such a broad spectrum of frequencies, and harmonics, as with this speaker. A mid volume (6) it is clear and clean. At 8 it is still clean with good bite and clang and as much clean bass as you want to dial in. I gets muddy from a frequency swallowing standpoint but, it does not break up from it and remains percussive. At 10, and the Tele wide open, it comes alive Still clean, speaker wise, with driven tube tone providing a nice throaty growl. At 15 watts, this setting can cover a lot of territory with pick attack and guitar volume management.

I am enjoying my amp even more with the exquisite articulation of this speaker. A great old school Jensen sound with a few new twists. However, my British voiced Emi Red Fang was a great speaker but once I heard hemp, a solitary paper cone doesn't work for me anymore. In a mix with hemp cones, paper acts as the tweeter speaker. to my ears. My Red Fang is currently living in sonic sweetness with my 8" Emi hemp cone in a new Weber cabinet I had built. That is for another thread in the lounge.

Here is a pic of the Weber from the back of the SCX2.

My amp is just a seafoam green sxc2. The color here is bad. I had a cabinet built for me by Weber that I will get around to putting in the lounge but, I will post my front and back pics. I am a bad photographer. Sorry for huge pics. My photo editor gives me problems. :|

Glad you are enjoying the new speaker. I hope you get lots of good tones out of it for years to come.

LOL. I laugh because this speaker may not have a permanent home in the SCX2, although it is now one of my "heirloom" speakers, to be sure. I am leaning toward a more Brit voiced hemp speaker. I like American tubes but like the chime of Brit voicing. Just not with a paper cone. Weber has just such a speaker and if it had been noticed by me before purchasing this one, I might have gone that way. Speakers and tone has become a new hobby of mine so I have some funds I lay aside so I can "play". First up, is getting a hemp cone Weber Blue Dog for my HRDlll. The C Rex will make a fine companion extension for the SCX2. Already tried it and it sounds amazingly lush and full. The 12" gives the 10" more bottom with the 10" providing more articulate mid and upper ranges. The ceramic 12" also gives a good 'thump' to the sound.

I've been a Weber fanatic for years. Used to have some great chats with Ted. I've got a 10F150 /50W /8 ohm in my SCX2. For my ears, that is the speaker for that amp. I like their 10A150 also, if it wasn't so darn price prohibitive. But, as MW stated, they're great to mix. Have a cab with a 10A150 35W and a 10F150 50W. That baby sings.
But, for the $, I'll go F150 50 W most of the time.
My 2 cents
