Well I finally brought home my Super champ X2 and I couldn't be happier. I just love it. It replaced a Mustang 1 V2 which was a great practice amp but really had no nice sound to it.

The new super champ has much nicer sound. The clean channel on its own with just a touch of reverb is good enough but the channel 2 amps are like the icing on the cake. I upgraded the firmware then I went to every channel and adjusted the middle to likeing. It is true what someone said. Middle is set at 9 on almost every setting. I backed it off and saved every channel. The effects are okay. Not great but good enough. I mostly like the reverb with or without the chorus and also like the vibratone.

My favourite channel 2 amp is the tweed champ. Goes great with the clean channel. Of course I got the foot pedal. It just makes it all work.

I noticed there is no buzzing or hissing of any kind on the amp. It is totally silent.

I was thinking of getting the Mustang 3 but I am far happier with this amp. It does have a nicer warmer sound to it compared to the colder sounding Mustang.

All in all a happy customer. I was playing my 2014 vintage 64 telecaster and it is a match made in California.

Welcome to the club. I also went from a Mustang 1 to the Super Champ, after a 30 year break from playing. The Mustang was really nice, much more than I expected, but the Super Champ is great. It just sounds good right out the box.

Now, I'll admit to something. After reading all the comments on the Mustang forum about how great the Mustang sounds if you tweek it enough, I spent a few hours with the two amps side by side, trying to get the Mustang to sound like the Super Champ. I was actually able to get the same good sound from both. I was surprised, but I think if blindfolded, you would not have been able to tell the two amps from one another. The big difference was the amount of adjusting needed on the Mustang, while the SC was just select a voice and play. As others have said, the Mustang is like a guitar computer, while the SC is like like a traditional amp. Both can sound great, it's a matter of how you get there.

All things considered, I couldn't be happier with the Super Champ. Best amp I've owned. Makes me wish I didn't take the long break from guitar playing.

I also broke a two decade musical hiatus by purchasing a mustang 1. Next amp was the SXC2 in surf green with oxblood grill. I have enjoyed the amp from day one.

I have an XD and a Mustang III. Both are nice amps. The Mustang has no voice of it's own though, it's all modeling. It does have some extremely high gain. I seem to notice some funky distortion around the 5th to the 8th fret on the low E when using high gain settings. A speaker swap to an Eminince Red White and Blue helped some, but it is still present, which makes me think it's circuit related. It is also more noticable when using cabinet emulation. When switched to none, it seems to be better. I like Celestions, but I think the stock speaker is a Celestion in name only. Nothing like a Vintage 30, that's for sure. If a V30 had the output capability I would throw one in in a minute. Not that I ever play it that loud, but I'm a stickler for having equipment that is capable of doing what it should even if I will never ask it to.
The XD is a lot better now after getting a 12" cabinet and installing a vntage Utah blue frame speaker. If you have an XD or an X2 I would highly recommend an upgrade to a 12" speaker. You can't just replace the baffle and install one either... the amp is not tall enough.
Both amps get frequent play, and I have no plans of replacing either one. That's not to say that another amp of some sort will not be sitting alongside soon. That goes without saying. I've always wanted an AC30.....

Congrats ! The Super Champ is the only amp I have ever owned that I could get Fender cleans and Marshall type overdrive from.

Congratulations on your new amp! I have a Mustang I V2 and I get what others said. You can get the Mustang to sound pretty darn good, for a $200.00 amp, but too much playing around with it to get there. The SC is awesome and it's right up near the top of my list but my next amp will be a '65 Twin Reverb. So much for that... I hope you have many happy playing hours with you new SC!

I have had a SCX2 for two years now. It is a great personal amp. Getting into fuse to get the sounds you want to use is essential to making this amp perform to its capabilities. Once done Fuse will not be needed unless further sound tweaking is desired. The onboard effects are very good and the Vibratone is by far my favorite, phase/chorus/rotary type effect. Make sure to get the two button foot switch if you will make use of one.

I have a hemp cone Emi Lil Buddy speaker in it that delivers incredible tones as it sweetens the treble frequencies. I intend to upgrade to a Weber 10" alnico hemp cone speaker soon. Hemp and alnico each have their own special "magic". I want to hear that magic together. Not to mention, Weber makes some very good speakers.

I played tonight on channel 1 with no effects at all. I rarely do that - just my Epiphone Dot through a clean Fender black face. Man, that was sweet! Loving this amp more every time I play it.

Question for X2 owners....
I have an older XD, Thinking of going to the X2... Does it connect with Fender Fuse? I assume that if it does connect with Fuse you can only adjust, you cannot save, correct?
Can you do USB recording out to software, like Audacity?

Thanks!

The X2 connects with Fuse, allowing you to modify and save the 16 voices, and 15 effects. The method of modifying and saving is described in the X2 manual, available on the Fender site. Channel one (voice) has some limitations on what can be modified, but all 15 effects and be used with it. Channel two is where everything is available. And it can all be saved to the amp, so once you have it set up to your liking, you'll probably not use Fuse very much.

I've done recording from the USB output into Garage Band software. Audacity should work the same.

Can't comment on the USB recording feature, I just stick a Sure SM57 in front of the speaker, and record the X2, and it does a super job miked up. I changed out the speaker to a Hemp Cone 10" and it rocks...... And I don't have to play it loud either to mike it up. It records beautifully even at lower volumes both clean and overdrive.

here is a link to that attempt at recording the X2 miked up.

Thanks Pdawg and bluesman.
Now my only problem is trying to decide if I trade the XD in on the X2... or keep it. If I know me, I'll keep it.

Love the full bodied tone of that speaker. Nice playing, BTW.
