Thinking about installing the Eminence Red Coat Ram Rod into either my x2 or xd combo. Anybody ever had any experience with these speakers? Pro's and con's of your experience would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Lil Buddy hemp cone in my X2 and love it. I had red coat red fang in there but, I prefer hemp cones and the British voicing of the speaker is not as good as the Lil Buddy IMO. Any Eminence speaker will sound better than the Eminence OEM speaker they come with.

I've seen quite a few reviews on the Rajin' Cajun in the superchamps but not many on the Lil Buddy, Ram Rod, or Copperhead. I've heard so many good reviews on the Ragin Cajun my plan was to put it in either the xd or x2 and put 1 of the other model's in the other.

The best swap is a new cab with a 12" speaker. i found one online that the amp chassis fit right in. It came with an Eminince Red White and Blue 12", which sounded really nice. I replaced that with a Celestion Vintage 30, which also was very nice. My recent swap is with a vintage (late 60's) Utah blue frame. No ribs on the cone, perfectly flat and tight as a drum. Real small voice coil. Sounds very, very nice.

The Red White and Blue has been put in a Mustang III, The Vintage 30 has been but in a Marshall MG DFX 50. A three way upgrade!

I am happy.

I replaced the stock speaker with a Jensen P10R-F. Since I play at home with this amp I didn't want a speaker that was louder. The Jensen allows me to crank the amp and get some power tube distortion. The Jensen is also clearer, more articulate than the stock speaker. For me it was a great speaker swap.

I like the idea of a 12" speaker for a SCX2 combo. Would love a link Gas212.

I've seen custom built cab's on EvilBay and they appear to be well built. You remove everything but the speaker from the sc2 or xd and mount it to the new cab along with the 12" of your choice. Too many unexpected bills have prevented me from doing this project. It's on my list of to do's as soon as I get half my guitar collection sold.

I actually got it on Ebay. I have seen several on there. The person I bought mine from originally bought the bare cabinet on Ebay, installed his chassis, the RWB Eminience, pluse Fender tilt back legs. I bought it with everything except the chassis, handle, logo and feet. He also included some extra tubes and a nice heavy duty cloth cover his wife made for it. It was a pretty sweet deal. I can't remember what I paid, but at the time I thought it was a reasonable price for what i got.
I just put the Utah Blue Frame in yesterday, so today I plugged in my Epiphone Black Beauty ( all gold removed, Pup's replaced with 3 D'Marzzio's, tuners are 18: locking Grovers, Pearl Pick Guard) and gave it a test run. The smooth cone and small voice coil give the amp a very chimey sound. Makes humbukers sound almost like single coils, with none of the noise and all the sustain of HB's. The Utah is rated at 60 watts RMS, so it handles everything the XD puts out.
What kind of ticks me off is that if Fender would make the XD cab about 2 inches taller, a 12" speaker would fit nicely. They are wide enough, just not tall enough.
The cab I bought looks just like a Fender cab. Same tolex, corner chrome and grill cloth. I had to put my handle on and the Fender Logo from my old amp. Construction is clear solid pine with dovetail construction.
If you can spare the money, a 12" is the only way to go with these little gems.
I like 10" speakers, but only in multiples. I have a Sunn 610L cab that is unbelievable. Sealed back, V shaped baffle. Tons of low end. But IMO a single 10 just sounds a little cheesy.
If anyone wants I can post pics.

I believe this is where the original owner of my 12" cab said he got it from:

I tried to look in my purchase history for more details, but it has been purged.

Here is a clip from Soundcloud that I made, using a modded Epiphone Les Paul Special (blasphemy, I know... but it plays so sweet and really sounds nice) plugged into my SCXD. I think it's set to Model 14, whatever that is. Lots of gain. Mike is a Sony something or other. Using Audacity and Mobile Pre USB interface.

Why not just buy a 1x12 cab, and plug the combo into it via the speaker out?

I have an Xd, there is no speaker out, not to say you couldn't put one in. Of course this is fine if you stay at home. If you take it to small gigs, now you have two pieces to carry. Unless you have roadies... also known as drummers.

Does the X2 have speaker out?
