I see that the X-2 combo is no longer being offered on Fender's website. Only black ones are left for sale on the web. No blondes or surf greens could I find. If so, I am glad I have my surf green combo. Very nice amp in the right situations.

I am ready to update the tubes in my X2. I am going for the gold pin JJ ECC83S and a moderate JJ 6V6 (with a damper ring) The gold pin JJ ECC83S has less ice picky pick attack, and the 6V6's are rounder, deeper sounding than the stock Fender tubes. It sounds Ok as is, I just want to improve it and BIAS it. I am off to Vegas tomorrow for two nights (5 hour drive each way up through the desert and mountains), then I order the tubes and the 2 damper rings.

All three of my tubes are tung sol. Fuller and smoother to my ear. JJ makes good tubes. Got a JJ 5751 in V1 with the HRD.

It would be too bad for these amps to go by the wayside... I think they're one of the best amps Fender has made in recent years. I'll be holding on to my little wheat/oxblood FSR combo until it dies.

Having said that, maybe they'll release a SCX3... a high quality morph of the Mustang series and SCX2 would be nice.

I definitely agree, I'm quite happy with mine, and it was at a very nice price, too. An SCX3 would be a good idea, but I have my sights set on something bigger next time...something like a Vox AC30, perhaps, or an Orange.

I hear ya... I just sold my SCX2 head and my TRRI (and a bunch of other gear) and pulled the trigger on a Mesa Mark V head. Game over. I'll quite likely never be purchasing another amp unless it's a replacement for this one, in which case it will be another Mark V.

Mesa...I'm drooling on myself and green  with envy. In addition to the tone, there is a lot to be said for a hand-wired amp. I look forward to hearing the jams.

I only have the black head, but after getiting my FSR AVRI '62 Tropical Turqoise , I would LOVE to get a blue X2 combo... Still I prefer the sound of this head through my Eminence Ragin' Cajun!

I just Googled those guitars, they look nice! But I have the opposite problem, I need a surf green Jaguar to go with my surf green SCX2 - that would be amazingly cool. 8)
