I can't find the model number anywhere. Can someone direct me to what is the correct footswitch?

They should make it a little clearer in the manual, instead of just stating...use optional footswitch.

Thanks.

It's mentioned in the rev D of the manual which is downloadable.
The part number is 0071359000

It says the Fender FM65DSP footswitch is for the XD. Does it work just as well for the X2?

Yes, according to the latest X2 user manual
http://support.fender.com/manuals/guita ... _rev-D.pdf

Top of page 6 it says part number 0071359000 which is the same as the XD switch
