Hi guys, I'll have had my Super Champ X2 for a year in January and its started making an odd buzzing noise, however it's not on all notes. The low E open string is fine and it's at its worst on the low G fret. I've ruled out the guitar as it does the same thing on both of my guitars!

Any ideas? It'll probably end up going to a tech unless it's anything really simple!

If a mechanical thingy inside tubes - you may get a different sound just tilting the amp a bit to different sides.

I had that with a ProReverb once. Had a long row of measures taken to get rid of different resonances and stuff.

Have only been using heads and separate cabinets since. Combos really wear tubes down.

I had that with mine- turned out there was a loose washer inside. Got rid of the buzz completely.

I, too had a buzz/rattle on the low G note. In my case, one of the bolts holding the speaker to the baffle board was a little too long and was "bottoming" out in the Tee-nut before pulling the speaker frame completely tight against the baffle board. I shortened the bolt (10-32 size) by an eight of an inch or so, and then made sure the speaker was firmly connected at all four attachment points.
This fixed my problem.

Normally, the bolt should be able to pass completely through the tee-nut, but in this case there may have been a bit of glue or paint that prevented the bolt from completely tightening. I suppose I could have used a flat washer, but that seemed like yet another potential rattle point.

Hope this is helpful. These are great little amps.

Kelly

I have a bunch of guitars and as soon as I plug one in that has high output pick ups it starts to make a hiss or a shrill noise that's sickening to the ears!!! I shut it off it stops making the noise until I hit a strong chord and it does it all over again!
I asked my salesman about it and he said oh well, it has been doing this since it was new.
cheers

Hi Snowjoe,

We wanted to check in with you and see if you were able to get the noise you were hearing sorted out? If so, great. If not, we would also suggest that you have the tubes checked out by a qualified tech. That can be a likely culprit in these situations. And please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan
