I recently bought a Fender Stratocaster and a Super Champ X2 amp. I'm trying to get that dreamy Pinky Floyd sound, but I can't seem to be getting a proper result.

I am not using any effect pedal, just my Strat and the amp. Do you guys know the settings to make the amp sound like the solo from Poles Apart for example?

Any help is appreciated :).

Thanks,

Marvin

I use a few external extras to get what I want, but I think with the FUSE software you should be able to create a chain to get what you are looking for.

Edit: I've updated the link to take you o the album page, click on an album and enjoy from there.

This guy is one of the best Gilmour's I've heard.

An XD, compression, delay, reverb, and skill.

That guy plays beautifully but it certainly is not Gilmour's tone, a nice imitation and probably his guitar skills help quite a bit. To get Gilmore's tone you need a whole bunch of things, boost pedal (I am guessing), probably some good distortion stomps, anyways he has two huge pedal boards. And he goes to them on every tune. Don't forget he is rather wealthy and can have some extremely modified amps and modded guitars, and very expensive effects pedals. But you can get close with the X2, start by using the EQ's experiment with both tone controls and use the Fuze software to help with the middle control, and change the cabinets around until you find what you like.

You may have to put a boost and EQ pedal between the guitar and amp input. I use a Boss Blues Driver for EQ and boost, but no distortion, and it brings my Strat Clone way up in the ability to sustain notes and drive the input stage of the amp a bit.

A bit?

That's plenty close enough for anyone not on a guitar forum to be impressed.

For Gilmore, start with a compressor and go from there.

You can come pretty close by connecting your SCX2 to Fuse and adding a Mono Delay to the Sine Chorus in the Chorus 1 position and selecting an out of phase position (neck+middle, for instance) on the pickup selecter on your guitar. With my Jaguarillo, I get a pretty credible Gilmour sound with the '65 Fender Twin model and the above effects. Give it a try...
