I've got only the head of subj. Can I use it for recording purposes without buying additional stuff?

You need a speaker for a load. Only solid state amps can work without a speaker. The usb and line out can be used to record. Recording equipment is up to you.

Yeah, I meant just that.

Can I route the sound via USB to my computer and from there listen the actual sound?

You need to hook a speaker and cabinet to the SCX2 a tube amp needs a speaker load to function properly. Only an 8 ohm load for that amp as well. You can't run it without a speaker no matter how you record it.

You can also buy a 25W 8 ohm resistor and solder on a teleplug.

But to actually get signal from tube power amp stage - you might think of getting a Radial JDX Reactor. That is made to pick signal from speaker level - and emulate something like 2x12 cabinet.

Me being sensitive to anomalies in sound - I get a weber element which provide a reactive load - which is what a speaker coil do. That will give power amp transformer something that is just about the same as a speaker.

These are very cheap www.tedweber.com

The Speaker motor is what I use. I just soldered a speaker cable to one of these.
Cost $20-$30 or so. Remember, to be safe, order dubbel capacity of load compared to amp specs. So get a 50W version for X2.
