My SCX2 arrived yesterday. 8)
Firstly, it sounds very good as a standalone amp.

Now the recording options. I understand that you can record :
(1) by miking the cabinet to audio interface
(2) using the line out to audio interface
(3) USB direct to computer. Only the last can be monitored "silently" only by headphones.

Also I understand that USB option is "only" software emulation of amps/cabs comparable to such plugins as Amplitube, Guitar Rig etc. Am I right?

So I tried the USB option in Cubase 7. Unfortunately I did not manage to get any sound in, even though using Fender ASIO Driver and enabling USB gain in Fuse, trying all the Fender ASIO source options available. ??
Also how are you in principle supposed to monitor the the OUT signal as only Fender ASIO outs are available? (Cubase can use only one ASIO interface at the same time.)

Hi again,

To document further, here’s my testing sequence with two different Cubase versions.
Windows 7 64bit. Fender Universal ASIO driver installed.

1. Open Fuse, Super Champ X2 is connected and editing is working. Advanced Amp/USB gain lifted up.
2. Open Cubase 7.06 (64bit) OR Cubase AI 6.02 (64 bit)
3. Device setup: choose Fender Universal ASIO
4. VST Connections: HD Audio CD Input 1 (L+R)
5. Create Audio track, Input= HD Audio CD Inputs 1+2 (tried other available inputs too)
6. Enable record, input monitor
7. Play guitar
no sound in
8. Cubase/Fender Universal ASIO control panel -> Cubase crashes.

Still trying. :)
Now Cubase Elements 6 32bit version.

Now Device Setup/ ASIO settings Control Panel can be opened without crash.
There I can see "SuperChamp X" Amp -option, but it is "unavailable" with messages "In use by another application? MS GS Wavetable synth enabled?"

No other applications open than Cubase. No Wavetable synth enabled.

How many of you use X2 USB recording successfully, and with which applications?

Welcome to the forum. I use it with Audacity and it works just fine. I've never used Cubase, so I can't offer any advice on that.

I always mike up my amps, never actually tried the USB function. I have had good success sticking a SM 57 at the speaker rim about 1" away from the grill cloth.

Thanks, I tried Audacity. The sound gets through (monitoring via RME multiface). However the latency is huge, not suitable for tracking. The reason being that Audacity lacks ASIO support.

Any other applications where Fender ASIO driver can successfully be used?

I still have some stamina on this.

First, Reaper. Asio, the sound gets through, but latency is still nearly comparable to Audacity. It does not change with different drivers, ASIO or not.

Second, 32bit XP PC with Echo Indigo card and Cubase 6.5.5. 32 bit,
- Device Connections/ ASIO settins/WDM Decice list can be opened. Super Champ X2 Amp can now be enabled.
- VST Connection/ SuperChamp X2 Amp 1-2 chosen as inputs. Echo card as output.

But still no input signal in.

In Youtube there is a clip where Cubase 5 and Fender Mustang are functioning well together. Maybe I will test that also.

It is of course possible that these are user errors, although I have used Cubase for many years. Maybe there are things still to be improved in Fender ASIO driver (or X2). But what do I know. Experience from other users would benefit all.

Same problems for me. Quit the ideea after a few crashes... Now miking the sound. But... Why did I pay for USB recording???
Please, if any solutions, let us know...

Well, I found at least a temporary solution for me:

- Open Fuse, Advanced Amp/USB gain lifted up, if needed
- Cubase 32bit (testing Cubase AI 6.02). 64bit cubase crashes when opening ASIO Control panel.
- Device setup: choose Fender Universal ASIO
- open ASIO Control Panel
- Enable Super Champ X2 (for input) and your souncard (for output). If Super Champ cannot otherwise be used (red mark beside it), go to (Windows 7) Hardware and Sounds/Manage Audio Devices/Recording. Disable "Internal AUX Jack SuperChamp X2 Amp".
Now you should be able to enable SC in ASIO Control Panel. You can also try to lower latency with a slider.
- Vst Connections. Enable normally your inputs and outputs which now are available,

I get a decent latency for playing, and now I can monitor in headphones while auditioning and editing sounds, and of course record too. 8)

However, my main Cubase is 64bit as are most of the VST plugins, so I hope that SCX2 someday gets a functioning driver for it.
