Hi all.

I played with my SCX2 and Fuse for a couple of month now but I'm still not sure if I can achieve with the Amp what I want. I thought I could store any kind of self created preset inc.l Fx settings, stomp boxes and settings, cabinet, etc. with the selected amp on one of the voicing positions and give it a name. Should that work? I also tried to rename voicings. This doesn't work on my amp either. Maybe I'm simply too stupid but could anyone shed some light please.

Tx a mill. Stefan

Stefan,
Your question is pretty general, but I'll give it a try....

As I understand it, the only elements you can save to an amp "Voice" are those elements on the virtual amp panel that are not "greyed out". For instance, many models have a Midrange knob, Bright switch or Presence knob. Modifications to any of these can be saved to an existing amp "Voice".

Effects and stomp boxes must be saved to one of the F/X Select positions. For instance, if your amp is set on the Spring Reverb F/X position (Rev 3), and you add an Overdrive stompbox, you must overwrite one of the default F/X Select positions in the "Save Effect" tab to save the Overdrive and any F/X mods/additions/deletions that you have made. As such, if you wanted to store the Spring Reverb w/ Overdrive you would either have to overwrite the Rev 3 F/X position, or a position of your choice that you had no use for. Then, when you disconnect from Fuse, your Spring Reverb w/Overdrive will be available in the F/X Select position you had chosen.

Any modifications you make under the "Advanced Amp" tab, i.e. Cabinet configuration, Noise Gate, Sag or Bias, cannot be stored to the amp at this time and can only be used while connected to Fuse.

Any "Presets" that you name and save can only be recalled by using the "Import" function and I believe are only available to you while connected to Fuse, they are not stored to the amp.

Hope this helps...

I have been able to save the cabinet config in Fuze, I use the Super Sonic Model with the Twin reverb model 2-12 cabinet. It saves to the amp and stays that way every time I open Fuze until I change it to something else and save the changes to the amp. Since I don't use any stomp boxes in my voices I can not comment but I do change the cabinet settings on some of the voices, and any non-grayed out knob settings on any second channel choice, and the middle control on channel 1 all savable. I only use the Fender reverb a little bit, that is the only effect I ever use on any of my amps other than an overdrive pedal or three on my other amps. The SCX2 overdrive and reverb are all I need along with the clean channel. A simple lightweight grab and go amp that does everything I need (as long as I remember the footswitch)

dbm,
Truly enjoy your posts and insights in this forum and by no means do I intend to contradict you, as I may well be misinterpreting the manual, however, this is directly from the Fuse manual:
"The changes you make in the advanced amp control panel can be saved as part of a preset when channel 2 is selected on the Super Champ X2 and the amp is connected to Fender FUSE. They are not stored on the amplifier".

Again, due respect to you sir. It would seem to explain why the OP was unable to save his cabinet configuration to his amp.

Cheers!

No offense taken, and no offense to you personally.

I can not say for sure what the manual says, and if it is accurate, however I have saved the cabinet settings to my amplifier, it does not change the cabinet sound from when I am connected to Fuze, and when I just play the amp by itself & the computer is not hooked to the amp. When I reopen Fuze the cabinet settings on the Super Sonic are where I set them last time I tweaked them. So I am assuming from these two facts that the Super Champ X2 has received and stored the cabinet settings as per my tweaks.

The standard cabinet setting for the Super Sonic Model when I received the amp new was the SS 2-12 cab, which is much darker and more muffled sounding than the Twin 2-12 cab setting. And my amp no longer sounds muffled. In fact I have changed the cabinet setting several times to several different cabs and played on those settings for a week or so to see what I thought. Then I found the Twin 2-12 cab, and it stays there. It is almost a perfect sound to my taste.

So in conclusion I have been able to save the cabinet setting to my X2. Just to be sure what I was talking about, I just booted the amp and Fuze and sure enough on the Advanced settings tab under the cabinet settings the Twin 2-12 cab is there.

It is a good thing I never read much of the manual, because I have done something that you say the manual says can not be done. Therefore I would not have tried it :D

Thx guys.

You are basically confirming what I'm seeing her with my amp. I was actually hoping that I'm doing something wrong here! :-)
However being able to store full presets on the amp itself would really be an improvement.
Could you do this Fender dudes????

Thx. Stefan

Stefan go to the Fuze Forum viewforum.php?f=26 and see what the guys over there say.

Thx dbm.

Will do! Fiddling around with Fuse is certainly ok to create a preset but using a Laptop while practicing with zhe band or even playing live would be a nogo for me. I really love the sound of the amp and its versatility but from my point of view the whole concept of using modeling on the amp is not really thought through yet.

Cheers. Stefan

I noticed Fuse asked me to do a firmware update on My SCX2 the first time I hooked it up to fuse that could explain why you can do something not in the manual

I believe this is where the ability to save the advanced settings came in. Like DBM I have messed with cabinets and retained them on the amp

The manual was for the version 1 software.

Best regards,
Harry

Hi All,

We wanted to chime in here and clarify a couple of points. With the Fender® Super Champ™ X2 connected to Fender FUSE™, you can open standard Presets as well as import Presets (Import button - upper left of Fender FUSE window) or components of Presets to Fender FUSE.

Then, once you have your Preset sounding the way you want, you can save the amp model (and Stomp if selected) to a Voice setting location on the amp by selecting Save Voice Ch.2 (upper right corner of Fender FUSE window), and save your other effects (if selected) to a FX setting location (upper right corner of Fender FUSE window).

So, essentially, you can save a Preset structure, but you save it in a slightly different way. The Advanced Amp settings are saved with the Voice setting for channel 2. For additional information regarding this, see the Fender Knowledgebase Article linked below. Please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan
