Last night I came home, powered up my gear and started to play. After about a minute the volume just cut to less then half of what it was. Does not matter if I am on channel one or two the volume is way lower then it was. Reboot and even did the factory reset, still very quiet.

I really hate the thought of having to do without my little X2 even for a couple of days! There is a Fender authorized service place near home, but does anyone know how long something like this takes to fix?

Also for the Fender guys here, I have never had a problem with a Fender instrument or amp before, do I have to get an RMA or anything or just take it to the shop? I bought the amp from an authorized Fender dealer, but he is an on-line seller and I would prefer to take it to my local guy, can I do that?

Thanks,
( an extremely bummed ) Harry

Good luck Harry, I hope it is an easy (and quick) fix.

Hi Coach56,

We will be happy to assist. It does sound like you might need to get your Fender® Super Champ™ serviced. If you just purchased the amplifier, you should talk to your dealer and see if they would be willing to replace your amplifier if you return it. Another option is to take the amplifier in to an Authorized Fender Service Center. Make sure you bring your receipt and mention that you spoke to Fender Tech Support and that we recommended that you bring your amp in for service. Please let us know if we can assist further.

OK, dropped her off at Danche Guitar, my local luthier/dealer/repair center, his comment was "What a wonderful little amp, I am sorry you are having problems, but the factory is very good about getting these repaired." He loved the blond / oxblood combo!

Since the owner is my trusted luthier I was very happy to hear this. But now I have to go down to my little studio and stare at the empty spot where the amp should be.

I did figure since I was without the amp this would be the prime time to have my '90 Strat Plus go in for a "tune-up", ( sorry couldn't resist. ) I have started to pick up the slightest buzz near the 14th fret so it is time to have him go over it.

He did have a 1973 Tele on the wall that I would have gone home with except it had a humbucker instead of the lipstick pickup. Black on black and looked seriously badd azz however I am looking for a twang machine and want those single coils.

More to come, -H

******UPDATE*******

I went yesterday and picked up my amp ( and my Strat ).

They were not able to find anything major wrong with the amp aside from the fact that the speaker was reading only 7 ohms instead of 8. Does anyone know the normal range for one of these speakers?

The volume is back to where it was, perhaps a tube was loose and reset in transit?

I am detecting a "crunch" that I didn't notice before. I guess I just have to figure out if I want a replacement Fender speaker or if I want to put something else in there.

More to come,
Harry
