OK - so I just got my new SCX2 today. Having a ball messing around with all the voices and effects - getting to know it. It's gonna take a while - but I am really enjoying this. Not even thinking of hooking up the Fuse yet. The sound is pure, warm and solid.

Gotta add that I'm an "old guy" who started playing back in the '60's. Quite honestly, I stopped playing 20 years ago - don't really know why. A couple of years back I wanted to start up again. Bought an acoustic-electric Fender Dread and got back into it. Then one day I was looking at my old 45-year old Mosrite Celebrity III and thought that it would be great to play it again. Took it to the tech at my local GC who really did a great job setting it up. He couldn't believe how good the condition was.

Unfortunately, my old amp had quit working. So after looking around and trying a few amps out - I picked up this used SCX2 (only 3 months old!!!) for a really decent price. Totally happy. We had nothing even close "back in my day." I loved my twin 12, but this amp's smaller size, effects and voicings are a lot of fun.

Anyway - as you can tell by my rambling - I am really excited to be back playing again. So far, the only problem I've discovered is that my old eyes are having a hard time reading the SC's effects dial - I'm sure I'll learn the positions by heart soon. Other than that, I am really looking forward to getting reacquainted with my Mosrite.

Thanks Fender!

Welcome to the club, bwynes! I was just rocking out with mine today. A blues Driver and my hh blacktop into the clean channel = fun. Sounded good on ch2 voice 3 ( bassman), too.

Happy to oblige, but Photobucket is blocked at work so I'll try later tonight.
I gotta say they are a tight fit height wise but they are slightly shorter so
there is just enough clearance top and bottom. Having the amp tilted, at least
in a practice environment, makes a world of difference.
I was thinking of cutting them down but my hacksaw didn't even make a dent and
I thought grinding them down would blue the chrome, because of the heat.

Congratulations! Yep, I think it's a great little amp. But Fuse is really going to open even more doors for you.

I picked up a new SCX2 last week. I'm still exploring but I think I will enjoy it's many features. So far I've been working with channel 1 and trying to dial in my guitars. I have a stock Squier Tele CV that pairs nicely. I also have three Squier strats with some upgrades but haven't really delved to deeply with them as yet. Channel 2 has so many options that I think it could occupy my time forever. I have tried some of the amp models but the clean channel is so nice I'm not sure when I'll get to the others. I have read through many of the threads in this section. I guess I'll be looking at the Fuse software section to see if I can pick up any tips.

Fuze is pretty simple, there is not a whole lot you can do with the X2 like you can with a full on digital modeler, but some of the settings are significant in the changes they can make.

I stay in channel one until I want to play a little Kashmir. Marshall 70's setting and a few other tweaks is pretty sweet. The vibratone slow effect gives a nice Leslie sweep that is much more pleasing than a chorus, flange or phase. IMO. Want to play I Can't Explain by the who? Try English 60's for just the right "pop". Good for Early Kinks too. I am old school. Forgive my ancient band references if you are not.

Last night I tuned my Tele to open G, flipped on channel 2, setting one, and just nailed that early Stones sound, think Honky Tonk Woman. My neighbors had to think we timewarped.

I want to nail that early Who sound as well, what guitar did you use and what settings on the amp? I have a Rick with a toaster in the bridge that should get me close, but have not brought it out of the case yet.

I have very simple needs clean, and overdrive. Both with a little touch of reverb. Although the X2 is a little "modeleee" sounding at times, it does both of those things fairly well. I am rather pleased with the X2 although for the most part I am a pure tube amp lover. For the dollars the X2 is a real bargain....... Not up to my Hot Rod Deluxe for tone, but still quite nice and it sure is lightweight. Perfect for a grab and go amp, guitar in one hand, amp in the other (with the foot switch, tuner, and wires stuffed in the back of the amp in a big heavy plastic freezer baggie), one trip in and one trip out. Speaker protected by the bulk of the baggie. Nice and simple......

I think I remember using voice 9 the Brit 60's clean setting. It could have been 10. My amp is not with me. I used my Tele set to the bridge pup. A Ric should sound great.

Thanks ModWiz, that nailed it.

I was looking for that tone he gets on the opening chord of "The Kids are Alright". Used setting 9, treble on 4, bass on 5, gain at 6 with the Ric going into a Route 66 compressor was just awesome.

I then added a hint of really tight slapback echo and smiled from ear to ear.

I really do love this amp,
-Harry

Glad to help. I really love the amp too. I know what it is and is not. I think it was one of my better purchases. I also sometimes run my line out into my Bugera v5 amp. I have An eminence 8'' hemp cone speaker in the amp and I connect that to a external speaker with a Weber signature 8" speaker. The weber has amazing highs and mids but no bass. It is an alnico too. The hemp speaker has great bass. Together they sound amazing. So, I use the DSP to get myself a spind and then mix it with the Bug to get some true tube saturation. The X2 allows for all kinds of fun. I have a Red Fang 10" alnico in mine.
