I set my to gain 7 1/2 and voice settings mainly on 12 or 13 , 12 sounds awesome with my tube screamer Ts808HW and les paul junior special with vintage demarzio humbuckers. 1x12 marshall cabinet really makes a difference in the low end.

Ever tried it with a Strat and no pedal?

WT24, I have the combo version and find the volume level is very dependent on the EQ and gain settings. As an experiment, try maxxing your gain, bass and treble and then change channels and cycle through the amp models. For me, I find it easier to locate my sound by first maxxing these parameters and then "backing off" to clean up the sound to my taste. (I learned this a couple days into owning the amp, when I'd attempted to start with the gain and EQ "flat" and noticed a huge, and I mean huge, variation in output from the various amp models, to such an extent I thought there might be a problem!). Worth a try...

Thanks, I will try that. My observations were more about channel 1 and the lack of volume difference between 3-7 or so. I have owned a couple of Princetons in the past, and there seemed to be a more obvious increase in loudness as you turned the volume knob up. So maybe it's not a fair comparison since Champ X2 is a hybrid amp of sorts, but not sure. Just figured channel one would be louder than it is and have more gain with the Strat.

I am surprised reading these posts about the X2 being too quiet. I have the head and 112 cab version, and it's plenty loud enough for band practice without micing the cab. I need earplugs before hitting 50 percent volume. If you haven't already, look on the advanced amp tab in FUSE and see if the factory settings for master volume on some voices are set properly. The bias sim also can boost volume, though it makes the signal "dirtier". Maybe the combo with the 10" is a lot quieter, but I never felt my SCX2 was too quiet.

I have the combo, and it is decently loud, I tried it through one of my EVM12L 1-12 open back cabs, and the loudness increased significantly. However I don't think the combo with my Eminence Lil Buddy 10" speaker would stand up to a loud drummer for live work. Maybe with the extension cab and the Lil Buddy disconnected that might be loud enough. I did not buy the amp for pro gigging, I bought it for house jams, ease of portability, and daily practice. For those things it works great.....
