So what is the better setup to go with off the bat? Thinking the combo is less $$, and can upgrade the 10" speaker later if need be, or the head+cab, gives the larger speaker and shouldn't have any rattle issues, like some combos end up having. Into more British classic rock sounds, Eric Johnson, Beck, etc. if that helps any. Opinions welcome.

Thanks much to all who reply.

I love the grab and go aspect of my combo with an Eminence Red Fang speaker. I always liked this amp but adding a higher end alnico speaker has made this thing a tiny terror. I look to build or buy a cab and outfitting it 2x12. I also think of having a single 12 cab, as well, for versatility. The various speaker sizes have their own personalities as well as the individual sonic nature tot he speakers themselves. Once we have out tubes figured out the speakers become the easiest swap factor sound tweak. I think starting with the combo is best, especially if playing at home, solo, is the main gig.

Thanks, Modwiz. Are you saying the tubes should be swapped out at some point, too? I want the amp to sound good with a fuzz and overdrive pedals, so that is my main concern.
Cheers.
