I'm having trouble using the USB connection from my amplifier to my computer to use for recording digitally. I would like to be able to do high quality recording with no actual volume coming out of the amp, and this is my only option since the line out does not silence the speaker when used.

I have a few questions which will help me accomplish this. I am tech savvy and understand the terminology and know how to do things, but just don't know what exactly to do.

First, do I need the Fender Universal ASIO driver to record with the Superchamp X2? I installed the Fender Universal ASIO, and can select it in my DAW (Reaper). BUT when I use it, it does not show the Fender Superchamp X2 as a selectable option in the drop down menu to select different ASIO inputs. Instead, it shows my computers microphone as an input. What can I do to solve this issue? I believe this is the problem, I'm not using the proper drivers for my device.

Second: When I do not select any special drivers at all, and simply use Windows Directsound, I can hear my amp come through my computer and through my headphones which are connected to the computer. When I change settings on the amp, I can hear the changes in the sound coming out of the computer. BUT. When I use the Superchamp in this method to record through Reaper, there is a large lag in the sound from when I strike a string to when the sound appears in the DAW/through my headphones. This is too much lag to make the function useful. (I do not get lag when using other Audio Input devices I have, like my Mackie Blackjack or my Line6 Gx. Then again, I am also using their respective ASIO drivers when using them. I have a modern computer with an Intel i3 processor, and 4 gigs of RAM).

tldr: Fender Universal ASIO is not recognizing my X2 as an input. Am I supposed to use Fender Universal ASIO for my amp? There is no documentation on this. There is a lag (when using Windows Directsound, not ASIO) when recording with the USB connection into Reaper. How can I fix this?

I can offer some partial help. Click on Advanced Amp in Fuse, and you will see a virtual knob that says "USB GAIN". Using that virtual knob, you can control the USB output level independently of the volume coming out of your amp's speaker.

Also, I don't have any special drivers installed, unless Fuse downloaded them when I installed it.

Can no one help me with this problem? I'm asking a few simple questions... I would hope someone at Fender could give me the answers. All I want to know is if I need a dedicated driver (ie. the Fender Universal ASIO driver) to correctly use my Superchamp X2. And, if so, why it would not be showing up to either Asio4all OR Fender Universal ASIO.

Sorry, I can't help with this, I never record direct anymore I always mike up my amp. So I have no idea how to do those things. Did you check the manual and did it have any info regarding the USB capabilities?

Good luck in your endeavors, maybe try the Gear Page in the amps and cabs forum there are lots of users over there.

Hi All,

We will be happy to assist. If you are using the USB signal from your Fender® SuperChampX2™ for recording on a Windows machine, it is important that you configure your ASIO settings and deselect any other devices that is selected an an input device. It is possible that if you have multiple devices connected at once, you could see a conflict between the devices "fighting" to act as the input device. A good starting point would be for you to just have the amp connected via USB, to see if you select it as an input device and get a signal. These sort of issues can sometimes be a bit tough to troubleshoot over email and forums, so if you are not seeing any success with the suggested steps, we recommend you contact us directly at the phone number below. Please let us know how it goes and if we can assist further.

This problem has still not been resolved.

I have updated the firmware on my amp, and when plugging it in via USB the Fender Universal ASIO drivers do not recognize the amp.

When I use ASIO4All, it can recognize the amp, but I believe the sound quality is lower or there is something wrong with it, as there is a gradual electrical distortion which gets worse and worse, making it hard to record longer songs with the amp...
