51 year old here who picked up the acoustic for the first time last fall. I rely on my son who is the guitar expert and we picked up a new MIM Standard Strat and a used SCX2 amp today. I am particularly interested in the blues as well. Never plugged into an amp before until today and playing with the settings and wondered if there are some settings that could be considered best for the blues. I hope this is not a stupid question. Also, I know I should post in the Strat section, but a suggested position switch on the guitar would also be helpful. Many thanks in advance.

Well for me to get one of my standard tones I like to set the amp so that, with the guitar's volume at 7, the tone is just starting to break up. My tone control is usually around 1 on the guitar, treble on the amp at 6 and bass on the amp at 5.

This allows me to roll the volume back a little to get cleaner tones or up a bit to get more distortion.

Now on the clean channel this means a lot of volume or an overdrive pedal between the guitar and amp.

On the #2 channel you can control this with the preamp volume and then set the loudness with the volume control.

This is just one setting that I use with both a Strat or an ES 335. An all around good starting place.

Really appreciate you taking the time to respond. I am planning to try your recommendations tonight or perhaps I have to wait for my wife to do some shopping with your recommended volume setting!

I set the middle in Fuze at about 5 in the clean channel, I set the trebs at 3 and the bass at 2 on the hardware tone controls.

For overdrives I use the Super Sonic model (13). I tweak the mids up a bit in Fuze and use the 2-12 twin cab setting in fuze, using the same hardware tone control settings as in the cleans above.

On my guitar, I usually have the volume turned all the way up for both channels, but for those real bluesy mild overdrives, I would turn the guitars volume down a little on the Super Sonic model to mitigate the gain.

I use the classic spring reverb model and set the amount on 2. I never changed anything else about the reverb in either channel.

Go here, http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... tent=music and listen to beer thirty blues. I did that with my SCX2 with the Eminence Lil Buddy speaker, miked up with a SM57 pointed at the rim of the speaker 1" from the grill cloth.
