Hi, is it possible to swap the knobs of the SC X2 for the white ones used on the Super Sonic? I think this would look much better. I wonder if these would fit because the black knobs look smaller than standard amp knobs, so maybe the pots are different also? Maybe someone has tried this before or could check this if she/he has another amp in the house? Many thanks in advance.

I do not know for sure, but I think that the various knobs are made to fit a common size coming from the pots through the face plate. In this case you could do that swap out and get the look you would prefer.

Thanks, modwiz, you´re right. It´s unlikely that Fender would choose a special knob format only for the X2 series...

I do not yet have the amp but will buy the head version.m I wish they would also offer the head amps in blonde like the combos.

Yes, it would be kind of them to offer the same color choices. I have the combo in surf green. I think the heads are great, but the combo is handy and the speaker out does allow other cabinet uses if required. My eminence red fang is doing nice job right now. If I were to move up to a 12 alnico I would use the canis major. I find that the red fang hits its sweet spot at 10''. The hemp cone on the canis does some sweet things with that alnico magic at 12".

I did not yet hear the Eminence Red Fang (never even heard of the Canis Major model) but I´m sure it sounds very good. I have a 1x12" Jensen Alnico cab which works great with several Fender amps (Bassman 50 SF, Blues Jr. Head conversion, Dual Showman SF) so the X2 probably feel home, too. But I´m always open to check new speakers, it´s an interesting way to various sweet sounds.

So, how does one remove the knobs from the SCX2? Short of breaking something, I see no set screws, but had tried to pull a couple knobs off and they're ot budging. Not worth it to wreck a pot to remove a knob. But I am a bit confounded by that. Since the knobs go on after the faceplate.....hmmm?!

They pull off. Just work them gently, they will come off. No set screw.

A trick my luthier taught me was to take an old shoe lace, wrap it behind the knob ( between the knob and the faceplate ) and then work it off by pulling on the shoe lace at the same time as the knob.

This also works with guitar knobs as well.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a shot. I just hope the shafts on these pots aren't plastic. Guess I'll find out. I've got a nice set of cream colored knobs with the black stripe. Will let y'all know and post a pic.
Thanks again!

I had to replace a knob because when they shipped the amp from Musicians friend my treble knob was loose, so Fender customer support sent me a new knob in one day (that is the way to treat your customers) Anyways I am thinking the pots had metal shafts, I am not perfectly sure of that but I seem to recall that. I tried to pull of the knob to see for you, but sure enough they are on there pretty tight, so I gave up on it pretty quickly..

Well, I tried the shoestring trick and it worked like a charm. Problem is, the pot shafts, that are metal, are too long to put standard knobs on. At least for the cream set that I have. Oh well. Guess I can live with the stock ones.
