Hi. Im thinking about getting a better speaker for the sc112 cab that goes with my scx2hd. Id like to hear some opinions about good upgrades. id like something that will improve both tone and volume. anybody swap out theirs yet. i have seen some posts about swapping out the 10 in the combo version and have been encouraged by the feedback they provided about the improvemnts. ive been eyeballing stuff online from tonetubby san rafeal and low watts (25w hemp cone) to celestion vintage 30 (good tone and loud) to some of the different eminence models. ive been doing my research but i wont be able to compare all of these things do to time and resources, so im hoping to get some feedback and opinions of people who have tried some of these other speakers. thanks!
cheers

Well, you probably know I got a Red Fang and love it. They sell for 250.00 most places. I got a great deal at Avatar speakers. The 12" goes for the same, but MF is offering a set called the barking blues set with a 12'' RF and a 12" wizard speaker for 256.98. I think I recall that you have a powered 12" cab as well, so I thought this suggestion might not be too crazy. It gets the ball rolling. I enquired about the RF speaker in a thread and got zip  Must have been my breath.

I dare to recommend Ragin Cajun:

I made a test for X2 Head, with two different speakers: RC (10") and the stock speaker from Frontman 65R (12") on Clean and first of the Gain channels. Give it a chance!

What is it you don't like about the stock speaker, Andy?

I will tell you what I did not like about it. At higher volumes, the bass had bad harmonics. A lower volumes, not a thing. For many owners the stock speaker will be all they ever need. It is a very balanced speaker, IMO. The Red Fang being an alnico speaker also has a chime that is very distinct to the higher end alnicos. It gave my X2 a little bit of a Vox quality that I find pleasing. I did pay for it.

I think Fender puts a very decent speaker in the amp. For moderate volume usage. One that many users will find adequate.

10" Red Fangs have come down in price. From 249.00 to 189.99.

I can't understand why I'm not seeing any WEBER speakers of any kind mentioned on the boards. They hand-make make some killer speakers of all kinds. And the prices are reasonable. Customer service the best, too. Check out tedweber.com. You won't be disappointed.

I own a Weber Signature 8" alnico. It has no bass, but it beautifully compliments the stock, bass rich and treble poor, speaker in my Bugera V5. The compression of the alnico with the deep fundamentals of the Bug speaker are a treat for the ears.

I had to build a small cab to house my Weber.

Eminence provides sound clips galore. Weber does not. Poor marketing IMO.

There may not be sound clips galore, but they're there. Maybe not for an 8" speaker :D Been using there 10"s and 12" for years. Got zero issues on their marketing. But they did design the alnico speakers for the new line of EC's tweed amps.

Hi, I've got recently a new X2 head trying to re-use my Engl E112 cab (with a Celestion Vintage 30 12" in it). I forgot how heavy this cab is (21Kg.) and I'm thinking to buy the Fender SC112 enclosure (Celestion G12P-80) that is only 12,7Kg. Has someone try the X2 with a Vintage30? How it will sound vs the G12P? It could be interesting to put the Vintage30 in the Fender enclosure? I'd appreciate your help beforte buy. Thanks folks!
