Hi all,

First of all, great little amp! I LOVE it. In fact I love it so much that I would like to record some stuff to share with friends and on youtube.

BUT, as with all technology, it's kind of driving me mad at the moment. I bought thise Fame instrument condenser microphone which I thought would work fine but I'm not happy with it. When I record this thing in Audacity it's like I'm hitting one string. Everything is equalized, you can hardly hear bass or treble with it and I'd like to record exactly what I'm hearing through my phones and amp.

I actually would like to record what's coming out of the speaker as it has this great vintage sound to it (I bought the vintage modified one) but the mic just won't do, the quality is too poor, my computer's sound card isn't that great either and I'm just an am and won't invest in a professional microphone.

So... I either want to record through the USB cable or with a line out cable, but I'd prefer to record through the USB port to get the sound that I want.

Now, if I run Audacity, for example, it won't find my amplifier... And I like to record in Audacity as it's easy to use. I installed some ASIO drivers such as ASIO4all and Fender universal but I read that Audacity doesn't support these drivers. But it should be possible to simply record my amp into this program I assume?

I've tried Ableton, too complicated to use AND I can't hear what I'm recording in that program, once again thanks to the drivers and routing problems.

Any advice? A step by step guide would be nice! First of all I'd like Windows 7 to just recognize my amplifier and get it to scream through my computer's speakers.

I heard good things about Wavosaur so that's the program I would like to try. With Windows 7 and with my super champ.

Thanks all for the help!

Best regards,
Ken

So what I'm basically asking is:

1. Is it possible to record my Fender Super Champ using its USB port, or is it only used to connect with Fender Fuse software?

2. If it is possible to record that way, why won't my windows 7 64 bit home edition find the amplifier as an USB device in my recording software or my PC's explorer and how can I solve this?

3. If the answers to the questions above are negative, can I record with my Jack-USB cable using the line out without too much distortion (or do I need to buy a better microphone or digital recorder)?

Thanks

I can tell you that it works in Audacity if I connect a Jack-USB cable from the amp's speaker out. The guitar sounds good. However, there's too much noise. Would like to have a clear sound, and at the same time hear what I play through the amp's speaker.

Please tell me what I should do. The amp works well in Fender Fuse. I wonder why Audacity finds the speaker out and the line out port but not the USB port...???

Thanks!

Think I need an interface. Oh never mind I'll be saving for a decent no nonsense wireless recorder. :D

My Audacity finds the X-2 just fine with the USB connection. It is important to have your amp turned on before you open Audacity. I had a similar problem with my Bronco. Apparently, sequence is important. Amp on and plugged into a USB port, then open Audacity.

If you have already done this, then I am clueless. It happens,

Thanks for the replies!

Well it's because I have a microphone that needs an interface as well to supply the power it needs. And as the pc finds the amp as a microphone using the Jack-usb cable I thought it maybe had something to do with power or an interface.

But as some manage to connect the amp only with a USB cable, I probably don't need an interface. :? I've tried another cable, same thing.. Of course I switch the power on before opening Audacity. It should find the amp that way, but it doesn't. Fender Fuse does find the amp so it's probably a driver thing.

It looks like some manage to get it working and others don't, if I read the problems on the internet. I'm not planning on installing the 32 bit version of Windows whatsoever. I think I'll just be investing in a professional wireless recorder and then edit my stuff in Audacity. Seems like the best solution as I have an acoustic guitar too.

Was thinking about purchasing a Sony PCM M10.

Thanks!

Hi guitarken88,

After reading through your various posts here, it appears that you have Ableton Live installed. If so, I might suggest that you reconsider using it as your DAW. It offers quite a bit more in terms of features and is compatible with the more capable ASIO driver platform. If you would like, please contact us directly. And we would be happy to assist you. Thanks.

Also, don't have FUSE running when trying to connect & record.

Hi All,

I am checking in here to clarify a couple of points. Fender FUSE should be able to run along side an ASIO compatible DAW software application such as Ableton Live. Fender FUSE sees the amp as a 'plug and play' or HID compatible device. So that should be no problem.

And guitarken88, in regard to the recording itself, we would suggest taking the extra bit of time and sorting out whatever ASIO I/O issues you may be seeing with Live. And again, please feel free to contact us directly if we can assist further.

I prefer to record use either the 1/4" line out or an SM57 mic right on the speaker grill.

Hi guys,

Tribrach raises a good point here. While there are several options for tracking (recording) with the amp, going with whatever sounds best is usually a good way to go about it. And though it is more "old school", micing the amp can work very well and is still commonly used in many applications.

Please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,
