Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere, I've tried searching the web, reading reviews and downloading the FUSE software and can't really find the answer.

Like many, I'm torn between the X2 and the XD. I think the XD could be a better buy as I could put the cost difference into an upgraded speaker etc, and many folks seem to enjoy the XD tones better.

HOWEVER, I was checking out FUSE and there seems to be a lot of effects options, such as a comp or fuzz in front of the amp voicing, different cabinets etc.

If I have access to all of that, which the XD doesn't do, then it seems like a no brainer to go for the X2...... Again, "if"

In a nutshell, does he X2 give access to all those extra effects or do you just get the same basic ones of the XD ?

Thanks so much

Hi millsart,

We will be happy to assist. The Fender SuperChampX2 (unlike the Fender SuperChampXD) has new effects and new amp models that can be programmed using Fender FUSE to the different voice selections and FX/Selections. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

I won't speak for anyone else's experience but my own. I have owned both the XD and the X2.

The XD without a doubt is an amazing amp and deserves all of the good reviews and loyal fans that it has.

There are two things that made X2, more than worth the cost of the upgrade for me:
1. The ability to own a head and a 12 inch cab. The matching Fender cab is very high quality and works perfectly with the X2 head. It allows for a lot more tonal options with the larger speaker. I really feel that even without any of the digital stuff, the Champ tone through the 12 inch cab with my OCD pedal is the best overdriven strat blues rock tone that I have ever played with.

2. The FUSE software allows me to tweak the tones to my hearts content. To be sure, there were some very good clean, and blues tones on the XD, but you can not tweak them very much at all. The FUSE allows me to make the sounds exactly what I want them to be. On my XD, I had about 4 of the presets that I would use, and I never really fell in love with any of the higher gain presets, they just didn't sound authentic enough to me. Although the tweed blues stuff sounded really great. On the X2, I have tweaked every sound and I love all of my presets. I keep creating new and fun tones every week. It's almost like buying a new pedal every week, except it's free.

Last week when the new Soundgarden came out, I wanted a tone that sounded like the No State Actor guitar riff on track 2. It took me a couple of minutes to create something close and about 20 minutes to fine tune it to sound pretty perfect through the neck humbucker on my Mustang Special guitar.

The ability to do that is easily worth the extra $ to me.
