Trying to get that great sound and just make it LOUDER. I would prefer not to need to crank the volume (and of course the preamp volume) in order to compete with a loud drummer in a rehearsal space.

Anyone with experience taking line out to a powered clean monitor (I was thinking of a QSC K12 or similar w/1000 watts)?
I called Fender and got conflicting reports on whether the sound from X2 line out would have the amp cab simulation or not.

The other option is just plain miking the speaker, though i have no experience with this and would prefer to avoid lugging around a mic and stand etc.

Any tips on getting a line/mic level signal which includes both preamp and power amp stages would be appreciated.

This is my second posting to the forums with dozens of lookers but zero replies to posts. Hmmm
If anyone is interested, I have since discovered a pretty cool device, made by Radial Engineering
http://www.radialeng.com/r2011/jdx.php
which is a direct box that puts a load on the speaker out, and simulates a guitar cab. This is going to be post-everything and thus has a better chance to sound like a miked amp thru a PA. Radial makes very good products, this one is around $199
They apparently also make a semi-rackmount version more for studio for $299.

However, I have since decided that im going to buy a CabGrabber
http://www.audixusa.com/docs_12/units/CabGrabber.shtml
as a compact mike-mount solution and use a good old
Shure SM-57 mic to a powered monitor, to avoid needing to crank/distort the little Fender combo for larger rehearsal /gig spaces.

Just tried a test with my new X2. I ran a guitar cable from the X2 line out to the insturmant in, on my Crate limo which is on the floor my hallway. The X2 is in my office on voice 13, gain is 5 and vol is on 3. I'm back out in the hall and the office door is shut. The Crate limo on board DSP is set to byass. Power rock chord....Sounds like an SS to me coming out of the Crate with delay and reverb. Next over to CH 1 on the X2. Nice clean fender sound coming out of the Crate. Running the X2 and the line out to the Crate up on a PA stand, very very loud. I tried various blends of the X2 and Crate DSP's and in the end I left the Crate DSP set to bypass.

My amp stand will allow me to attach boom mic, which was my plan till I tried this setup. The Crate is a cool little amp/pa I can still hook up my Smartphone or Korg PX5D via the Aux in jacks.

The X2 for my weekly jam needs is plenty loud. On the off chance I want to be louder I can hook up the Crate amp and put it up on a PA stand.

Is it better to mic the amp or is what I'm doing ok?
Any ideas?

Mike

Plugged mine into my 1200watt Mackie and it sounds like a million bucks coming through the mains and the monitors

At home, I line out mine to the stereo for filling out the sound. I've mic'd it and I think it may sound better but not enough to mess with a mic.

hi. I use a tech 21 power engine 60 for extra volume in live settings. its a 112 powered speaker cab. runs about 340$ very transparent sound.
info here
http://tech21nyc.com/products/powerengi ... ine60.html
you can hear me use this setup live in a video

http://youtu.be/oyCGnxHGehA

as you can see from the vid im playing with a very loud drum and bass at a garage punk show with no house sound other than for vox. most club gigs will mik you up and run the thru the PA. this has worked well for me with no issues. any power amp and speaker setup should work well with the SCX2 line out. i prefer the T21 for its easy portability and adaquit power.
cheers

Thanks for the link to the tech21 site, Andy. Looks like you have discovered something great. This cab is on my list: http://www.seismicaudiospeakers.com/4x6 ... ft_46g.htm. At 92db it is not as sensitive as the 4x8" which has a 97db sensitivity and allows those 15 watts of the X2 to really have some fun. The 4x6" is lighter and I have the power amp to drive it.
Got the rig, now need some gigs.

I have a mix and match assortment to use with my Bronco or X-2, (which I am loving).

I have used the X-2 to power the 4x8" cab and it sounds great. The 8" speakers respond great and the horn is well balanced. It is a bass cab after all. Using the line out into the power amp and then the 4x8 was really sweet. The power amp has to be turned over the 12 o'clock mark to over power the 15 watt combo. 250 watts versus 15 of tube power. LOL

The versatility of this amp and the options makes it a keeper. Thanks Fender.

Oh yeah, the Bronco is great too.

You look ready for some ROCK! I've been curious about getting a little 4x8 cab.

The line out on the SCX2 sounds great. I've started chaining a bass amp to it and running them together and really like the full sound.

Modwiz, have you tried hooking up your SCX2 to your Bronco?

No, I haven't. Since they are two feet from each other, I'll give it a listen. I have to admit, my enchantment with my Red Fang speaker makes me reluctant to cover or mix it up with anything else. Still, it seems well worth my time to see what that sounds like.

I've tried Line Out from X2 to loop in from frontman 65R. Sounds very full and interesting. If I go up volume with X2 as well, the combination lamp - SS is very strange. But really get a full sound out of it. I initially bought the 65R especially to bring more power for my X2 if needed. Through loop in. And works great, very pleased with the combination.

Tried the line out to my Bronco, after adjusting the gain to 0 and the bass to almost the same, the sound was very rich. My drummer liked it to.
