so it was the speaker board. looking at the amp from the back.....there is about a one eight
space between the top of the speaker board and the bottom edge of the cabinet. the space is
widest on the right and decreasing to the left. i simply wedged a few slivers of wood here and there along that gap. buzz dissappeared.

tribach here also reccommended putting wood screws along the bottom where the speaker board meets the cab. but when i pressed along that edge while it was buzzing...it didn.t seem to make much difference. that would have been my next experiment.

hopefully the wedges will continue to work. i.d really hate to
send this one back...i ry do dig the tones from this thing.

hope this helps someone with the same problem...

cheers.....

I'm glad you got it working.

Mine redeveloped a buzz yesterday but two of the screws had slipped out. I may look at the top and see if wood shims will work.

well a bit of buzz returned so i repositioned the shims but now
i think perhaps the best solution is probably shim it up tight and then
add the wood screws. i.m trying that tommorow....if it doesn.t work...back
it goes.

as much as i like the sound and the price of this amp, i kind of resent
having to fix a brand new amp. ok i understand when its a year old..getting gigged
and tossed about, you expect to do some adjustments. this seems like a design/manuf.
problem.

i got a kick out of the fender response above....yeah...i solved
the "issue" by jamming wood shims into my brand new amp. guess i.m all set.

gee, i think if this was my company i.d be all over that "issue".

well anyway...i.ll let you know what happens......cheers

Hi zippydejour,

I'm sorry that you were unhappy with our response to your post. We see a very wide variety of posts on our forums as you might imagine. If you have further concerns about the amp, we would suggest that you contact our Consumer Relations folks at (480) 596-7195 and get it to a service center to be checked out. Your product carries an excellent warranty (http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... nformation) and we are very happy to assist. The other thing to keep in mind is that often we see customers who want to modify or make changes to their amps. So, we have to look at these posts on a case by case basis.

With all that said, again, please contact us directly if you would like to get the amp in to a service center to get checked out.

to be clear,i was not unhappy with your response, i was amused.
and now i.m really amused that you would suggest i spend 30 bucks to
send a week old amp back to you.

and i.m really giggling about your comment about how
customers want to modify their amps. clearly, instead of being interested in
a problem several users are reporting, (and please note i wasn.t asking you for
anything) you become defensive. that.s unfortunate and does not bode well for fender.s
future quality control. oh well.

for the rest of us.....i put in a bigger wedge in the gap on top and one wood screw on the bottom right where the speaker board meets the cab bottom. seems to have done the trick...for now. cheers

Hi zippydejour,

Our goal here is to assist customers. In this case, that would be you. I was being quite sincere when I responded to your previous post. We are here to assist. The support that Fender has in place in this scenario would be to get the amp to a service center to be checked out. That was the entire goal of my reply.

And again, I would urge you to contact us and see what our Consumer Relations guys can do for you in regard to getting the amp checked out. If it turns out that there is an issue with the amp, we can look at a remedy for that and if need be, look at any possible design issues.
