new...sounds great....lots of bass...altho maybe too much in this case.....

If your new one does it as well, press on the baffle corners and see of it stops. If it does, the screws will fix it permanently.

Hi zippydejour,

I'm sorry to hear that you ran into a bit of trouble with your amp. Please let us know if all is well when you receive the replacement.

Cheers,

If what you are describing is a cabinet buz, I bet your new unit will be the same.
I am now in my 2nd replacement and the buz is the same as the first one.
I guess it is a flaw in the design of the cheap cabinet. The speaker panel is not well fixed to the rest of the body and it rattles as hell with guitars that have tendency for bassy tones.
I never put the extra screws because I do not want to lose the warranty.
It is a really stupid sad little thing that makes the amp unusable for more than 1/3 of the power it is designed for.

It seems like if we want to use more than lets say 7 watts of power, the smart thing to do is just return it, get refunded and go for another amp.

The stupid thing to do is to put some screws ourself and lose the warranty...

I just hand twisted the screws into the back of the grove that the speaker panel sits in. There is no damage done to the amp.

Mine is beginning to rattle on the bass notes as well, but I like the amp enough to route the problem out and fix it. I may just try and change out the power tubes to JJ anti rattle, and also buy some JJ anti vibration rings for the power tubes. I did that for my Hot Rod Deluxe and it is as rattle free as can be, and has been for a year or two since I swapped out the tubes..

I've had the same buzz off and on. I use a small tilt back amp stand which seems to have resolved the problem. The stand raises the amp about 5" off the ground/floor making for easy access without bending over to much. Also helps to decouple the amp from the floor. I have the sub for home theater decoupled from the floor that way the base freq. go in to the room not the sub floor and floor joist.

Mine is on a computer desk bottom shelf. It could be the cabinet, it could be tubes, it could be the desk and any articles (of which there are many) that reside on the computer desk. But it is developing as I play it. I would guess it is power tube rattle.

Just adding to the thread,

A few weeks back I played outdoors at a wedding. We setup on a concrete patio under a roof overhang. Lucky for me I brought one of those pads to stand on and a couple of fans, it was 85 in the shade. At the end of the night as we broke down I saw that my amp settings were vol ch1 9.5 ch2 voice 3 vol 9.5 gain 7 base 5 treble 5.5 The tilt back amp stand sat on the concrete and the little x2 never buzzed once. As the disclaimer says "your results may vary...." I've had the amp for about 7 months an that was the hardest I have ever pushed it.

We just ran the vocals, harp player, and electronic drum kit through the PA. Bass, acoustic guitar, my electric, and percussion used there respective amps. Made for a nice soundstage and mix out front.

I, too had a buzz/rattle on the low G note. In my case, one of the bolts holding the speaker to the baffle board was a little too long and was "bottoming" out in the Tee-nut before pulling the speaker frame completely tight against the baffle board. I shortened the bolt (10-32 size) by an eight of an inch or so, and then made sure the speaker was firmly connected at all four attachment points.
This fixed my problem.

Normally, the bolt should be able to pass completely through the tee-nut, but in this case there may have been a bit of glue or paint that prevented the bolt from completely tightening. I suppose I could have used a flat washer, but that seemed like yet another potential rattle point.

Hope this is helpful. These are great little amps.

Kelly
