It's easy for things to get negative so I thought I'd make a spot for us to rave about our SCX2's.

Only positive stuff here...

1. It's a quality tube amp but doesn't cost much to buy or re-tube and it sounds great. You could get two and an A/B box for less than most other tube amps. A used SCX2 cost less than tubes for a Twin.

2. It's 15 watts so you can push it without the cops showing up or having to sleep on the couch.

3. You can tweak it to your hearts content with FUSE including tube matching and tube bias without getting shocked or spending any money.

4. It's small and light. You don't need to go to the chiropractor after moving it.

5. It has a 10" speaker that fills the living room and is easy to mic but doesn't go through walls as bad as a 12" speaker which makes for a happier wife and sound man. (The external speaker jack gives you whatever you want)

6. It's versatile. You can go from clean Jazz to Pink Floyd to Rolling Stones, to GnR to Metallica in an instant then save your settings in the amp for instant recall.

7. It has great effects that you don't have to haul around. Some amps only give you two effects at a time or you have to haul around a suitcase of stomp boxes. The SCX2 has enough that you don't have to take much with you. A looper, volume and a Wah at the most, depending on your presets, and that much will fit in the back of the amp.

8. Line outs. It has USB and 1/4" jacks that don't kill the amp so you can monitor your sound while you record without having to worry about feedback or colored and lagging playback. You can also feed it directly into the board if you don't want to mess with a mic. If you need headphones, you can get an adapter that will protect the transformer and tubes.

9. It draws attention. People are always impressed at how awesome a sound comes out of such a small box.

10. A tube amp with effects that is fully configured with a computer is a new concept so your YouTube video's get watched and your forum posts get read.

For my birthday and anniversary, my wife offered to get me any guitar amp I wanted. There were NO budget constraints imposed. I considered everything under the sun including the AC15/30, '59 Bassman, Twin Reverb, Deluxe Reverb, Blues Deville/Junior, Egnater's, Peavy's, Line 6 and Marshall's and I brought a number of them home. At some point, Guitar Center is bound to ban me.

I ended up with the SCX2 because I believe that it is the best living room amp at any price point, period.

No doubt about it the SCX2 is a great amp at a very reasonable price. I have several vintage and modern Fender amps and the SCX2 head I have is one of my favorites. I run mine through a Hot Rod Deluxe 1x12 enclosure and it is a great combination for small to medium size clubs. I like the flexibility that you get with the head but agree that the combo would be great for at home or small club use.

I have the separate head and cab. I plug a Fulltone OCD through Channel 1 with barely any drive at all, but a good amount of volume. I put just a bit of reverb on it. And that is the best strat tone that I have ever gotten out of anything that I have tried. I have never gotten better tone out of a 65 Deluxe Reverb at the store, not through a blues jr. For my ear, it is the exact strat tone that I want.

That makes it amazing for me.

But...

Along with all of that, fender adds on 16 voices that are all tweakable with different amps, emulated cabs, effects, pedals through Fuse. There is an almost infinite amount of tones that you can get.

It is easily the most fun that I have ever had with an amp. It makes me enjoy playing more.

I agree about this amp being a great living room amp. However, I push mine through a 2X12 cabinet and this amp sounds great. I like the way this amp sounds on channel 2 cranked in overdrive, and it isn't so loud the neighbors complain. I don't really like speaker breakup, but tubes being pushed hard is real music to my ears, and that's what I get with this amp. Sometimes I play through the clean channel and use my Boss Blues stomp box in tandem with the Boss Super Distortion box and man then it really cranks!!
However, the clean channel on it's own is also very good, as are the effects.

All and all, a great amp for the money. I also have a Randall 50 Watt amp and a Blackstar 100 watt amp, and several amps I built, but I find myself playing this little Fender the most.

regards,
Waddie

Agreed! I have the head and cab and love it. It's all about the customizing. You want to change the wave form of the tremelo effect? Go in fuse and do it! The amp models all sound good to me. I feel confident that I could bring that amp into any and all music situations and get a sounds that works perfectly. The reverb is BUENA BUENA !!its small and light but still loud enough to gig with IMHO. It's been my experience that if you are playing a venue that needs more than the SCX2 turned up to 10 then they have a PA!
All in all a whole lotta love!
