I like everything about the SCX2 for my needs in a traveling-in-motorhome practice amp EXCEPT.... I need to have the ability to use the amp with headphone monitoring and speaker turned off.

I'm disappointed that as functionally wonderful as this amp is, there is no headphone jack,, nor a speaker-off function.

So.... What is the best/easiest way to listen to the amp with headphones on and have the speaker silenced?

Get a Weber Attenuator with a headphone jack.
Study this product as you can crank the amp to the 10s
and get the tones/sounds you like, but can turn the
speaker volume down to lower volume levels or
to the headphone only level.

Also, get the Weber Mass 200 as it will work with all amps
from 5w to 150w(+) without adjustments. The Mass 200 automatically adjusts.

Toppscore.... YOU da man! :-). Thanks very much for that suggestion. I will look into those products right now.

Comment to Fender product development folks... It would be a simple matter to add a headphone jack and speaker attenuator to this amp, which would round it out as THE best little amp for tone, features, AND user versatility! I hope you will add this feature in the X3!

Are there tubes in the x2?
If there are, then no headphones.
I make headphones a prioriy for my smaller amps.
I could be wrong, but I have not seen a tube amp with headphone jacks.
Headphone jacks "seem" to be only in solid state amps.
Check it out. Toppscore

Yes, the X2 is a tube amp. So, you're saying that the design of tube amp generally precludes offering a headphone jack?

The Weber attenuator adds a small circuit for headphone output, so wouldn't it be perfectly possible for a tube amp manufacturer to add a headphone circuit? I guess they would have to build in an attenuator, or a separate power amp circuit shut off switch, to protect the amp when the speaker is silenced.

Perhaps Fender feels that the added expense to do this on the SCX2 would push the price point just a tad bit above where they wanted it to be? Too bad, really, because like you, I feel that a headphone feature with speaker silencing is very important in a small "practice" style amp, or one which might be used in the studio with direct output via USB or line out. Granted, many users may have no intention of using headphones with the amp, but certainly there are many other users who would really appreciate speaker silencing combined with headphone monitoring so they could practice freely without others in close proximity hearing much, if anything.

Yes. You will find that added electronics, hard disc drives, modeling, headphone jacks,
typically require solid state amps and amps that have switchable tubes/solid state.
Not all amps want to offer headphone jacks, even if possible.
There are give and take towards demand vs increased costs and increased complaints
and increased service issues and increased returns.

But, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A DEDICATED TUBE AMP WITH A HEADPHONE JACK.
They may be out there, but let me know if you see one.

By the way, is the X2 really a tube amp? or does it have tube amp modeling?

Double checking, there are three tubes in the X2:
one power tube, and two pre-amp tubes.

Therefore, no headphone jack. Toppscore 8)

fender champ 12 has a headphone jack, its valve, adding a headphone jack is only a matter of a couple of resistors really i think, any half decent amp tech could do it, or a hobbyist
cheers

If you cut and set a switch on back - you can have speaker connected and silent - while using line out to phones or something.

I show in my mod for fx return here where signal goes to power amp through C54:
https://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php ... 9#p1171889

Rest of circuit at Blue can be left open, it has resistors to ground.
But no tubes in signal circuit then at all, which a weber load could make possible.

One 12AX7 is used, half to a signal amp a bit, and other for phase inverter for power tubes.
