My SCX2 should be arriving tomorrow. I am anxiously awaiting to rip some Stevie Ray Vaughan with it. I've read that the X2 sounds great with OD pedals running in front of it. What OD pedals are you guys using successfully and getting that tone you're seeking?

I obviously play in the style of SRV and/or Texas Blues. Any recommendations as to a great OD to get that elusive SRV tone? I know the obvious one is the Ibanez Tubescreamer, but anything else? I was thinking of buying a Radial Texas Bones pedal...from the soundclips I've heard, it does a phenomenal job.

Thanks,
Rattlesnake

I love the sound of my Fulltone OCD through it. I get a really cool Texas blues when I keep the drive low-ish, and I keep my hp/lp switch on LP.

When I turn the drive up, I get some great hard rock type tones too.

I've tried the Boss Blues Driver but the treble seems thin on that pedal, and I've tried the Ibanez TS9dx, but the low end seems wimpy to me. The OCD is kind of the best of both worlds to me. It has the sustained quality tone on the higher notes, and the more bold low notes.

I have the X2 with the 12 inch cab, and the OCD sounds better through Channel 1 than any tone that I could get on my Blues Jr. III.

I don't know about chasing the SRV tone per say, but I've used both a Butler Tube Driver and a Keeley Mod MT-2 (Metal Zone) and both sound great...

The MT-2 is an interesting pedal... it has an excellent EQ and is capable of anything from bone crushing metal to really sweet OD when adjusted just so... you can dial way back on the drive and then add more level and with the EQ, find a tone of great classic rock tones... I'm by no means a metal head, far from it, but it's a cool pedal and worth checking out (though probably not what you're looking for if you're going after an SRV tone...)

I have so far run a boss ds1 (analogman modded) into the clean channel and the supersonic with great results. The fuse software has some built in od pedals that to my ears sound very good. Very tweakable. For srv tone I would suggest using the fuze software to best replicate his setup. I don't know what he used but I bet it's one of the models.
Cheers
