Hey all... I feel like I'm the only one posting much here these days but I'm not going to let that stop me :) Here's a slow little number on the new Gibson 61 Reissue SG I just scored off ebay. Quite a deal at under $800! Anyhow... it's a fantastic guitar and really has been testing my loyalty regarding my strats and telecasters. My new SG's have been getting all the play time lately but I'm sure some single coil tones will beckon soon.

Anyhow, this recordings on the Princeton model... pretty clean setting. Gain at just under 4 and volume at 5. Enjoy... http://youtu.be/OJQEZuFbtwY

That was a nice trip to take. Thanks. Great tone.

I made a test for X2 Head, with two different speakers:
RC (10") and the stock speaker from Frontman 65R (12") on Clean and first of the Gain channels. Totally different sounds!
Give it a chance, and please, comment what you hear.

First one is recorded with camera mic, the second with a dynamic mic in front of the speakers.
Have FUN!

The RC is just a better speaker than the stock one. It was most noticeable with the clean channel. The SCX2 has a beautiful sounding clean channel. Better speakers really show how nice a channel it is. I put an Eminence Red Fang in my X2 combo amp today. The tone is heavenly.

Indeed so. But I love the sparkling of the stock speaker as well. Much appropiate for jazz music, IMO. Depends of the music you play. Interesting is that I feel like the 10" speaker (RC) sounds much fuller than the stock 12", like having more bottom end.
The Red Fang must of have better sound, even compared to RC.

I like the RC better as well... it sounded more present and articulate. I use an Eminence Cannabis Rex in one cab (w/scx2 head) and have the stock speaker in my combo scx2. It sounds ok but will probably replace it with a Eminence Lil Buddy. I think Eminence pretty nice (and affordable) speaker... I use the Commonwealths in my Twin Reverb. Heavy as a mother but tone to die for!

Thanks for sharing the vids!

I am curious to hear what a better speaker would sound like cause, I think the stock sounds pretty fab myself!

I agree about the stock speaker. The reason I sprang for the Red Fang, which I got for 188.00, was there is just a little something different about good alnico speakers. The RC is fairly close in tonal response. It is the compression of the alnico that I really like. It was a birthday present to myself. My 60th birthday.

The stock speaker only showed some raggedyness when I dimed it and only in the very bassy notes. Different 6V6's might have made the difference.

I have found most SCX2 owners really like their amps. There is a reason for that. I think it is one of the best buys fender has. The mustang l is an amazing buy for 100.00 too.

I feel very fortunate to have been drawn to these two fender guitar amps. I like my Bronco bass amp too, but a Rumble may be in my future. I wish there was more info on the Fender preamp. It apparently never caught on. 800.00 and no power could have been a deal breaker.

I made this video as homage to my SCX2. It's on voice 12 with no pedals, recorded direct through USB into Audacity.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY1cuCdX ... e=youtu.be

I've noticed the USB direct sound is quite a bit smoother and somehow more distorted than the sound through the SC112 cab, even at low volumes. It sounds ok but not as good as if I had miced the cab. Please be forgiving of my shaky cover of Back In Black.

Real good, man. Great tone and execution. I love my SCX2 and all the tones I can get out of it. I click onto different voices and I write things based on the tone. I played my Mustang l today also. Being able to get these tones while sharing a house with others and not making people crazy is just too good for words.

Shaky? Pretty damn good if you ask me. I been listening to Bin B for 33 years and have always wanted to play it. Yours is well played and sounds very good.

I'm pretty keen on the X2, even though we get stiffed for price over here, and it's good to know AC/DC sounds should be easy to get.
