Hey hey. Man I just spent a couple hours trying to get the USB audio to work on anything and no dice. I'm so frustrated with it I could scream. Fuze works with the amp but I can't get audacity to find the superchamp. I have installed the iniversal asio driver but it doesn't show up on the audio input lists. Any suggestions?

I don't know what you have done so far, but here is the drill. After connecting your computer to your amp with the USB cable, open your computer's Control Panel (in Windows), click on Hardware and Sound, and then under Sound, click on Manage Audio Devices. Click on the Recording tab. You should see your SC, make it the default device.

Then open Audacity. You should see your Super Champ listed under Input Devices. If not, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Devices -> Recording, and you should be able to see it and select it.

You have to open Audacity after connecting a USB input or output device. I don't know what sound cards Audacity works with, I've never had any problems in that regards.

Good luck, and let me know if this helps.

When I go to the control panel the sc isn't there. This is where I'm butting my head. It shows up as a device but when I go to the sounds section and hit the record tab it's not in the list.was there something special needed to get the sc on the list? Thanks for responding!

Try right-clicking in the Record tab, then click on Show Disabled Devices. That is the only thing I can think of right now.

I have to amend my previous post. Having done some recording, I have now set the gain to 4 on Voice 4 for using my fuzz pedal. That gives it a much thicker, bassier feel for power chords, and more fuzzed-out leads too.

Ooooooooooooh babies...cranked the gain up to 10 on Voice 4 ('59 Bassman) with my Big Muff Pi for some lead... :D :D :D

Andy, did you ever get the recording issue straightened out?

Bought a tung sol 12ax7 for my SCX2. I did not like it. It took the warmth out of the amp. I put in in my V5 Bugera and it took all of the mud out of it. Bugera V5 is a dark toned amp and the tung sol made it pleasantly brighter. I am now playing with pulling the trigger on a 10" Eminence red fang for the SCX2. I am hoping the alnico chimey sound works. Red fang is a freakin expensive speaker and there are almost no reviews on them to really tell. I have heard good thing about the Celestion gold alnico, but the frequency graphs make the red fang look like it has a better bottom and some upper harmonics that give it a unique voice. A WGS type ragin cajun speaker was the other option, but good alnicos have a tone I really like. Having a two hundred dollar speaker you can't return would suck. I have a 8'' Weber alnico that I did not like in the Bug. It had no bottom oomph!

That is my contribution to this slow thread.

I use the head through Ragin Cajun and am very pleased with the sound!

My current favorite is no. 12 80's British (Marshall) - settings used are:
G7, T3, M3, B9, P7. Cabinet 4x12M (needs FUSE). For high volumes, back off on the gain a bit. Gives an AC/DC-ish tone.

Also good is no. 13 Fender Super Sonic with these settings:
G3, 2ndG5.5, T6, M5, B9. Cabinet 4x12M (needs FUSE). Gives a smooth saturated Foo-ish tone.

Settings for head and 112 cab version of SCX2. No virtual or actual pedals used (turn off via FUSE). I am using a Dean ML-X with Dimarzio Tone Zone pickup.

My favorite Superchamp tone is now the clean channel through an Eminence Red Fang speaker. A light (2-3) level mix of hall reverb and mono delay. A cool Cat tremelo adds some nice moodiness and the harmonics of the speaker make it sound different than any other set up. Just creamy and mesmerizing.

Whoa...I've got a new love. Voice 8, the Twin Reverb - I put my Dunlop JHF-1 in front of it and it blasted me straight into fuzz heaven. :D

I keep on playing with it a loving it more. The Vox, voices 9 and 10, settings are really sounding great with the alnico. Glad they gave us two. The metal 2000, voice 15, also sounds smokin'. I got sustained harmonic feedback with the volume on 2! The 65 deluxe, voice 7, also sounds great. For my clean sound the clean channel is so much warmer and fuller than the Twin for me. This is all with my stiff, brand new Red Fang.

I love this amp! I have a Blues Jr. but I think the SCX2 sounds so much better. Channel 1 is just awesome and I have pretty much matched it with the Princeton preset tweaked. Princeton, Twin Reverb and Deluxe Reverb models are my favorites. I have a Waylon inspired preset and a Rockabilly preset that I use almost all the time. Love it great amp!

IC,

Care to share those two custom presets with us? I am looking for a good rockabilly preset to match up to a semi hollowbody that is loaded with Dogear P90s. I have also been playing with a bunch of bluegrass guys and would love a better country tone. :D

Best,
Harry
