Just for fun list your favorite setting and how did you dial it in? Or if not fav the one youve been digging on lately.

I got my Super Champ X2 on Monday 12/3/12 by Tuesday I had installed the Fuze software and started tweaking. However I found the clean channel with the Fender spring verb on slightly is my go to for cleans, on Channel 2 I liked the Super Sonic overdrive. I tried tweaking them a bit here and there but the programmers at Fender did a superb job on those two models so I am sticking with the factory settings on them. I need 2 sounds for what I play, clean, and overdrive, both with a slight touch of reverb. I found them instantly, and that is my go to sound. I know the SCX2 has a lot more capability but I don't need any of that. I wanted the X2 for its size and weight and the fact that I could get the two sounds I need with on board Reverb.

I have a pedal board with an A/B switcher in it and I use several distortion stomps a reverb pedal and a Boss Blues Driver in it. On the B side of the switcher I have a Digitech GNX2 modeler which I use for overdrive harmonies on one song. I disconnected all of the pedals except the tuner, and the BD2 on the A side because the Super Sonic Patch is as good as any of my expensive tube distortion devices, so to save the tubes in them I bypassed them and took away the power to them. I use one patch of the GNX2 into the clean channel for the harmonies.

But if I was going out to play at a jam or gig I would simply take the X2 and its pedal in one hand and my guitar in another, one trip in, one trip out.

I have to say that I have been programming Synths and samplers and guitar modelers since the 1980's, and with all the capability the guitar modelers have, I only need two good sounds from any of them, I understood the Fuze easily, so programming the sounds is no problem, but fortunately for me I did not need anything fancy. As it came from the factory is how it stays (For now)

I think you are really going to like it. :D I've played both my Fender American Series Stratocaster HH and my Gibson SG Standard through this set up, and they both sound great.

@ DBM. I think Fender started getting the DSP thing really figured out in the X2. Obviously, they cannot satisfy everyone. That would be a boring world if they did get it right for all. They did get some good usable sounds though. Of course they excel at the Fender tones. I'm having a nice long honeymoon with mine.

I am so pleasantly surprised with this little amp. Dollar for dollar it would be hard to find a better deal. I was a little hesitant to purchase a modeling/tube hybrid, but my doubt is now fully gone. Fender hit it outta the park with this amp.

Not a bad attitude from a tube only snob (me).....

It is the funniest thing about this amp. I am kinda 'stupid' for it. I love reading reviews about it...still. It's almost embarrassing. Must be love, it makes you do silly things.
I totally agree with you dollar for dollar comment and hitting it outta the park. Good to hear you are enjoying it so much.

I agree about the value!! I was also hesitant to buy a digital modeling amp based on what I'd heard over the years and when I was shopping for a new amp my store (tweed hut music store in Vacaville) that I shop at asked if I'd played one. I said no cuz I don't do digital. He said I really should just plug in and see what I think. After plugging in I was sold. So many great usable sounds. I'm not a gazillion sounds per song player so for me it's like having 15-20 single channel amps that I can choose from. I don't use nearly the full capability but its nice knowing its there. I just bought the footswitch but have not used it yet. I think with being able to switch from clean to dirty and turn effects on and off will give me a very usable amount of live options. It's rediculous but I kind of want another one for a stereo setup!
Cheers

I swore off of modelers for everything but recording. Every guitar track I put in my DAW, goes through a tube compressor into a Tonelab Tabletop, and into several more compressors into my sound card box.

I have had a Digitech RP2000, & a Pod XT, and still have a Digitech GNX2, and the Tonelab. Of all of them I liked the one clean channel on the Tonelab for recording and for distortions I put a Nady TD1 Tube distortion pedal in front of the Compressor then the Tonelab. I kept the GNX2 for the intelligent harmony capability for live work. Otherwise I swore off all modelers. Although the Pod HD bean tempted me for quite a while.

I definitely did not want a modeler/tube hybrid amp, but I let some long time internet friends talk me into trying the X2, and so far I am satisfied with it about 80%. I have to mitigate the trebles more than I would like to. I can't get them above 3 for the clean channel, I left the mids on 10 and the bass on 3 also so it is a mite muffled. I would love to grab all the frequencies above 2 to 9 K and cut them a bunch, then I could turn the trebles up a bit. I do think I am going to have to change the speaker in a little while. I think it is the way the speaker is voiced that bugs me.

From what my ear can make out, the hemp cones really help with the high end, if that is where you want some cutting. Even the basic WSG 10" seems to be a bit warmer, but not to the degree of the hemp cones. They are 'smokier'. Go figure,

10' speakers are the red headed stepchildren when it comes to choices. The Delta Demon from Eminence might be worth a listen. Although you have a decade on me so you may already know what you have in mind. Not to mention, I spent most of my life playing bass and spending money on drugs and alcohol. Getting back into some guitar playing and having some money for gear is a whole new world for me. I hope to learn something. :D

I was one of those hippies at Woodstock back in the daze, Although I could afford any kind of equipment I wanted back then because I did very well financially for some years.

I always turn the presence control all the way off, on any amp or amp model that has it. On my Hot Rod Deluxe I set the trebles at 10:00 the mids at 1:00, the bass on 3, and the presence all the way off. On all of my modeling gear, I mitigate the trebles somehow usually, and the presence all the way off.

So doing away with some of the highs above 2K-3K is my usual direction. Unfortunately on the X2 there is no way to do that on the clean channel. If there was a software presence control for the clean channel, that might help. I would prefer a 10 or 20 band software graphic EQ somewhere between the modeling and power amp however.

But I think in the end I will probably have to change the speaker if it don't mellow out on the highs. If Fender spends over 10 bucks to OEM on that speaker I would be surprised. I think it may behoove me to look into a hemp cone speaker. And it may also help me if I get the BIAS Probes to set the BIAS, and get me some hotter JJ Tubes, they have a much mellower tone, fatter, deeper. Yet still with enough treble to balance the tone from bass end to treble end of the fretboard.

By the way I also set the BIAS on my HRD every time I get new JJ tubes, and what a change that can make, as long as you don't go overboard.

Hey hey. I did some jamming with some friends the other day and I used the x2 again. Gotta say it came through with flying colors. Sounds so good at high volumes! Also I made a tone by dropping a fuzz pedal
In front of channel 2 and I stored it in channel 3. I wanted to get a sound like I stepped on a fuzz! So I made a little recording of a song I'm working on and I think the fuzz tone sounds really good so here's a link.

I've been thinking about a hemp cone also for taming that high end

I was wondering when we would get some new material. :D

The harmonics in that tone gave it an extra dimension of sound. I can see why it intrigued you. It responds to frequencies in different ways. Cool tone. Seriously fuzzed up. :P

It sounds like you recorded with a mic. Have you tried recording with the USB cable? It's a real blessing - you adjust the USB gain in Fuse independently of the amp's external volume, so you can hear yourself play as loudly as you want with no clipping. And no more room noise or string slap.

I'm really loving this little amp! :D

I actually recorded with an iPhone! Not bad all things considered. I really want to use the USB to record but I have no software to record with. I've been using audacity cuz the price is good but the superchamp wont show up as a device. I read on some other threads that audacity doesn't work with the asio driver and stuff. If there is another way to record on windows without buying anything (dads at the bottom of the Xmas totem pole) I'd love to hear it. (That's completely non sarcastic! I really would love to know!) I'm hoping to pick up a mustang floor sometime in the near future which comes with some software that I'm guessing works with fender stuff cuz it's the fender edition but until then I only have windows. Ok x2 users computer literate people's. any suggestions?

Andy, I use audacity with my Mustang. I just have to have the Mustang on before opening up the Audacity program. You then have to enable in in the recording area. Sometimes it will enable itself. I have windows XP, the best OS ever made by that crew.
