Cool review. Fun to read.

I am still a bit baffled as to why Fender is allowing this amp to fly below the radar. It's been on the market since January, but lots of the big stores don't have it in stock.

It makes me wonder if this amp is simply testing the waters to see about the potential of a bigger line of hybrid amps combos and stacks.

Bought the combo. Needed a bigger speaker so I bought the B-52 from GC for 69.99. Put that speaker in this.

I added a 1/4" input to the speaker enclosure. Looks like this.

Cut the combo box down to the size of SCX2 head.

Very pleased. Great amp.

Nice review. I think you covered it pretty well. It really depends on the kind of gigs you do as to whether it's a giggable amp or not. Loud enough for the garage IMHO . If there is a pa to plug into the line out sounds really good live. A 40 or 50 watt version would be SWEEET! I like the compact size tho. Cheers

I think the Bandmaster VM is the 40 watt version you might be looking for. From what I can remember, the primary differences are the main power amp tubes (SC X2=2x6V6 vs. BM VM=2x6L6). Both amps use 12AX7 in the preamp section, at least for the straight-through channel 1.

Not sure if the 12AX7 is used by channel 2 with DSP effects inline afterwards, OR, if channel 2 uses a digital preamp coupled with the DSP effects? The amp schematic should answer that question (or some input from some Fender Moderators  )

Right on. Don't get me wrong I LOVE scx2. I've had bigger amps and I never really needed all that muscle. Those other VM series amps do look very cool. I like the fuze connectivity that the scx2 has. So many options.
