I read on the Super Champ X2 page about using Fender Fuse to modify the presets. But then I see that Fuse is no longer supported by Fender.

So what do you current users do now?

I can't find a way to download Fuse at this point so would I be stuck with the preloaded presets?

Thanks for any help or advice.

I use my 15 watt tube amp as a 15 watt tube amp.
Fuse still works in mine...it's just not supported and/or backed by Fender any more. This means; if you DO have any software issues---Fender doesn't wanna hear about it.

As far as "downloading" Fuse, I have no clue if you still can or can't. I downloaded it on a laptop that I dedicated solely to the amp, and I've NEVER had a problem with the software. Not sure if I just got lucky with my particular amp head, or if all the issues others have had are operator error and Fender got sick of all the whining.
No; I'm not trying to put anyone down, I just simply never had a problem so I don't know what the problem is.

I think you need to register to download Fuse. Did that long time ago

I registered at Fuse when I bought my Mustang II amp several years ago. I sold the amp and sent the software with it.

But even logged in I get no option to download the software now.

Well, that sucks. They haven't supported Fuse for a year or so. But now, they don't even offer it for download? And they still make and sell amps that need it?

If you have an Android device, there's a free program called Remuda that will let you set up all the amp features. I've never used it, but people say it works fine. No fancy GUI, but the features are there.

Or, you could look for a Boss Katana. Fender doesn't seem to do well with software and it's support.

Hi CoryB,

A little late to the party but I signed up specifically to share my research/experience with the X2 in the last couple months. FYI, I've been playing guitar since 2001 and my main amps have always been tube and high gain, granted I have bought a few digital/solid state practice amp over the years. I had no personal experience with modern profiling amps until I bought the X2. That being said, sound and tone are also very subjective; what works and sounds good for me won't necessarily be the same for you so at the end of the day, do what YOU want! :D

I started GASing for a low gain amp in late 2019 and also wanted a better practice/bedroom amp as my main amps were/still are waaaay too loud for my current housing situation. My research eventually led me to the X2 and I pulled the trigger on the head even though it was introduced in 2012 and my suspicions were that its production was going out the window. It was ordered and arrived on March 2nd. (FWIW, it was brand new/in box and has an environment regulation compliance sticker on it that is dated Sept. 2019) I'd obviously heard about Fuse in my research of the amp but saw that Fender stopped supporting the software a year or two ago. Personally, this wasn't much of a deterrent and after ordering the amp, I pre-emptively downloaded the .exe of Fuse on Feb. 17th. I left it on my desktop for whenever the amp arrived and didn't check the Fuse website until it did. So sometime between Feb. 17th and March 2nd, it was announced that they were discontinuing Fuse altogether on March 20th.

Anyway, I hooked the X2 up to a Mesa Wide Body 1x12 cab (C90/Black Shadow) before connecting it to Fuse/my computer and was quite underwhelmed to be perfectly honest. Channel 1 sounded decent but fairly mid-humped/not like a Fender and Channel 2 sounded very 'distant' ad/or muffled. But I didn't want to be too hasty in my judgement/wanted to hook it up to Fuse before really judging the amp.

I had zero issues installing Fuse on my computer, which is a PC and runs Windows 10, and have had zero issues with it so far *knock on wood*. I didn't have to register to use Fuse with the X2 and tweaked everything to my liking. As well documented on these forums, the factory mid settings are set obnoxiously high so I went through and set the mids of Channel 1 and all voicings on Channel 2 to 4-6 depending on the voicing/tone I wanted with treble and bass to taste. I also turned off the cab simulation on all presets because I wanted to hear my own speakers and quite frankly, my ears liked the amp better when it was off. No issues saving presets/they were saved when I next hooked up the amp!

The tone of the X2 before and after I tweaked it with Fuse is like night and day! I cannot stress this enough. But does that mean it sounds better? Once again, that's very subjective and a matter of debate. I personally think so.

All this being said, I've read a lot of conflicting forum/consumer information about these amps in the last couple of months so I wasn't sure what to expect. I've read both very positive and negative experiences with this amp but they both tend to agree that it sounds great when it works properly. But take my personal experience with a grain of salt and you should do more research or go try the amp in person until you're comfortable with making an investment. I can only speculate on what 'discontinued' means when referring to Fuse but I wanted to share my experience before everything got potentially shutdown. I can't find a link to download the software anymore and my attempts to do so took me in a circle on the Fuse website so you'd have to get the .exe somehow...

Long story short, I highly recommend the amp but believe you need the Fuse software for it to reach its true potential. It might be in the process of being phased out of production though so keep that in mind. I knew the risks going into things and am comfortable dealing with the consequences of something going wrong with an amp at this price point. Make sure you are too!

I hope this information is helpful. :)
