Why does Fender damage their credibility by claiming this amp has a tube preamp, when it does not (see the schematic). The single 12AX7 is not in the preamp, but is the driver and phase splitter for the power tubes. The preamp is a mixture of digital and analog solid state similar to that in the Mustang V2 or Champion amp lines. This marketing lie makes their honesty questionable on other topics, and damages the iconic brand that is Fender, and Leo's legacy.

There are pre-amp and....pre-amp.

We can say that all tubes before power tubes are on pre-amp section.

With 90 % solid state amp, who care where is the only on pre-amp tube. No need to.

Well DougMen, you're correct, it's not a pre-amp tube as in a "tube pre-amp". I'm an electrical engineer and have looked at the schematic for this amp. But, where does Fender advertise this as having a tube pre-amp? Granted, some old forum comments are floating around the internet saying that channel 1 is "all tube", but there are just as many comments correcting them about it being digital on both channels. And why are you picking on 5 year old threads? Some of those posters haven't been on this forum for 4 or 5 years.

Enjoy your amp, even with it being digital. Personally, I couldn't be happier with my SCX2.

I stand corrected. Sweetwater's catalogs say it has a tube preamp, and I incorrectly assumed they got that from Fender. But, after looking at Fender's webpage for this amp, I see that they are completely honest, saying it has digital modeling and 6V6 power tubes, but nothing about a tube preamp. I apologize to Fender for my disparaging comments. And, it's true that the 12AX7 does provide some tube gain after the preamp and effects sections and before the power tubes, but not in the usual sense that a 12AX7 provides tube distortion in the lead channel of an all tube preamp section.

A audio or guitar amps may have more definitions, look at Google.

Preamplifier and power amplifier is a good definition
