My 18 month old Superchamp X2 has suddenly stopped producing sound without warning. Nothing at all. I've tried different leads and another guitar.
It only gets occasional bedroom use at pretty low volumes, once or twice a week at volume 2 - 3 maximum.
The power button lights up, the tap tempo switch light responds to pressing it and so does the 2nd channel switch and light.
The three tubes have a faint glow shortly after turning on, which I don't know if normal as I've never really looked at them to be honest.
The speaker wire / jack is fine and there are no signs of dirt or corrosion on any connections.

Any idea what is wrong with it?
Thanks, Rich

Try changing the smaller tube, the 12AX7. Mine went after a couple years. They're only about $12. If that doesn't work, change the two 6V6's. The problem is most likely a tube.

Okay thanks, it's worth trying for a relatively small cost.
By the way, I've tried the line out to the aux input on my Bluetooth speaker and it works fine.

If the line out works properly, that's a good indication that the tubes are the problem. Please let us know how it works out.

Did you get a chance to try new tubes? Did it solve the problem?

Hi pdawg,

I've just bought a new pre-amp tube and fitted it about an hour ago. Everything works fine now.

Thanks for your advice :-)

Hi everyone at the Fender Forums. My first post here, so a friendly Hello from me :)

To Topic: I have the same Problem here with my X2. It stopped working yesterday. I´ve bought it on 12. Sept. 2016 so it´s close to exactly a year old now. Used it nearly daily for between 2 and 8 hours. Mostly as additional Amp for playing Stereo, together with my Hot Rode Deluxe III.

The strange thing is that it stopped working while connected to a my PC and i was working with Cubase and FUSE, which i haven´t used for a while. That may be a coincidence of course.
I checked Firmwareupgrade, other Cable, other Guitar, with and without USB Connection and it doesn´t give a Sound. Tap- and Channel LEDs light up, as well as the big main LED.

So given that one of the Tubes has stopped working, (btw. all of them are glowing but i don´t know how bright they should light up by default) Shouldn´t the modelling Side of the Amp running alone? Thought it would be 2 seperate halfs of the X2 which are running independently. One Tube and one Solid State. So Channel 2 should work, right?

If broken Tubes are the reason... np i´ll buy some new ones but it would be nice to get some Info here in the Forums first.

The solid state, digital portion and the tube portion aren't channel 1 and channel 2, but rather pre-amp and power amp. If the line out works, and communication via Fuse is good, then the power stage (the tubes) is the problem. Now, a failed power supply can cause the power stage to not operate. But the most likely component to fail is a tube.

Thank you for the fast reply pdawg. I didn´t know that. I was in the believe that it would be two complete seperate Portions. So it seems i have to get me some new Tubes.

I would have hoped that the Tubes would last a bit longer, than only a Year. The ones in the Hot Rod are all good and i own this Amp much longer than the X2, with more playing hours. Also the X2 was only running at Volume 4-5 max, without much pushing to the Tubes.

However, thx again. I will get me some new Tubes and give another Reply here, wether the Amp works again or not :)

Just try replacing the 12AX7 first. I have read other reports of it failing early. It is the phase inverter for the 6V6 tubes.

Typically in a tube amp, the 12AX7 used as a phase inverter would not be heavily stressed and would practically last forever. But as mentioned, there have been several reports on this forum of them failing early, mine included. Maybe a bad batch of tubes? Although I haven't read the same for the Princetons, Deluxes, Blues Jrs, etc.

So i recieved my new Tubes today, after a longer delivery time and i can confirm: The 12AX7 was defect, as you Guys assumed. The 6V6s were both good. Glad that the Amp is running again. Thx Guys and Rock n Roll :)
