I'm in dire need of a new amp (I have a blown up 50 dollar behringer modeling amp from my starter kit back when), and am interested in the super champ x2. I play clapton through the ages, john mayer trio, pink floyd, srv, jeff healey, bb king, hendrix, etc. my favorite tone however is clapton's soldano period. I recently posted on another forum asking about what good amps I could get that could do close to that sound. many people recommended jet city (for obvious reasons  ) but using one of those would take away my ability to have sparkly fender cleans. I kept looking and found the x2, which seems to hold promise. would I be able to tweak a setting to sound like the journeyman-pilgrim era? I have a strat with lace golds and the mid boost btw. thanks!

Yes. The SC X2 is very tweakable, thanks to the Fender Fuse software. All you need is a Windows or Mac computer to install Fuse. The Super Champ X2 comes with a USB cable to connect the amp and PC.

I suggest you download the Fuse manual for SC X2 and give it a look. Fuse is very cool, including tweakable effects. The SC X2 is incredibly versatile!

Btw, I love Clapton's Journeyman tone, too. That's a great album.

I didn't know you could tweak the effects too, that's cool. I'll give the manual a look. Also, I'd be buying the amp used... Would it use any old USB cable or will I need a special one? Thanks!

It's a common cable.

Btw, the Champ amp model (#1) nails the Layla sound when you crank the Gain up.

Try to find a used one with the stock Fender Special Design 10" speaker. It's made with the amp models in mind.

Hi. Two things. 1) The cable you need is not quite as common as it used to be. You need to have a USB A Male to a USB B MINI Male. The current common USB is an A Male to a B MICRO Male.
2) If you have an Android phone or tablet you could also use Remuda to tweak your sounds. Look for Remuda for Fender Super Champ in the Google Playstore. Regards.

I started working on it last week. No progress to speak of yet. It will be an almost complete re-write PLUS my Mac/iOS dev skills are rather rusty :( Regards. Robert

I understand the rusty part, I do some programming myself. And I understand it's likely a from-scratch do over. Being an Apple person, at home anyway, I would definitely grab an iPhone version of Remuda.

The biggest hurdle will be getting Apple to allow me to sell it in their App Store. It needs to use USB (via the camera connector adaptor) and they don't allow apps that do that to be distributed by them UNLESS you are an Apple Hardware Partner.
