I've had my new X2 only a few days, but a few days and nights of use--I'll call it 'burn-in'--has taught me a few things about this amp.

First, I'll admit that my initial disappointment with 'noise' caused me to over react in my criticism of Fender. As a die hard user of Fender guitars and amps since the 1960s, I'm still very much a die hard fan and loyal customer of Fender products.

What I've learned about this amp and what I suggest to other owners:

1. The SC X2 likes clean power and correctly wired A/C sockets. 'Dirty' power and bad grounds result in noise. To overcome this and protect this amp's circuitry, try to keep it on a circuit with low demands, and, use a Furman PST-8 power strip. Yeah, it's expensive ($120) but worth every penny!

2. Before powering up, turn the volumes and gain all the way down. I also recommend having the effects turned off when powering up the amp. Give the tubes a couple minutes to warm up, too.

3. Leave the amp on, rather than turning it off every time you step away. Like driving, a constant speed is less wear and tear than stop and go

4. The speaker needs hours of use to break in.

This amp sounds sweeter every day!

I really like the ability to edit the amp models and effects using the Fuse software.

I'm enjoying and appreciating this amp more and more as time goes by.

Glad to hear you rectified your 'noise' issue! It IS a great amp.

That's always the best thing to do...keep them tubes warm. I also turn a tube amp on, and walk away for ten minutes or so and let them warm up before even plugging in.

100% true. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who have there mind set that a Vintage 30 or Patriot Swamp or Cannabis Rex or Creamback must be better than the stock speaker because of all the chatter about them; and they don't even give the stock speaker a chance.
So; they go out and buy a different speaker and try to tell everyone in the first five minutes of the new speaker that it's WAY better. Boulderdash! Even those speakers need time to break in....if they'd have waited, and broken in the stock speaker, they may have enjoyed it.

Reviews of speaker cabinets and combo amps at a lot of the most popular gear sites, you'll find a LOT of people wasting good money on speaker swaps the day after they get the gear home. Hell some of them order their favorite speaker(s) when they buy the gear---never even trying the original out. Silly in my opinion.
