Disappointed with the noise. Oh, it's quiet till I try and use it. Plug in my Deluxe Player's Strat w/noiseless vintage pups and there's hum and intermittent crackles. Holding the strings quiets most of it, so the entire rig is apparently a poorly grounded antenna.

Plug the same guitar and cable into my 5 year old Roland Cube and there's no noise. FYI, the Roland uses a 2-prong plug, SC uses a 3-prong plug. I've owned many Fender tube amps and never had noise like this.

Bad input jack, maybe?

Many new Fender product are noisy, we talk often about that in the forum.

Never never bring a amp to your home without test it in the store before.

What you're suggesting should not be necessary!

And what you're saying, "...many new Fender products are noisy..." is a clear indication that Fender has accepted inferior quality as an acceptable norm.

Many of us buy online. If noise is a constant issue with brand new Fender amps, then Fender needs to go back to using quality components and workmanship.

My Roland cost $239 including tax--and it's top quality.
That's less than 1/2 of what the Super Champ costs. It has a full range neodymium 10" speaker that can safely take keyboards and bass guitars.

So, quality amps CAN be built with quality components for a reasonable price.

Don't defend Fender. Insist on better quality.

This morning the amp was much quieter. Over time it got noisier. I called Fender Customer Service and they assured me the amp should be quiet.

We ended up agreeing that the tubes are the most likely cause. They recommended replacement tubes under the tubes 90 day warranty. If the problem persists, he emailed me the address of a local service center.

To me, many thing can't be buy on line. Or you have to accept several compromises.

That is true; but thankfully most of the on-line gear stores have a 45 day 'no hassle' return policy. And here in the U.S.---if there is no store or facility in your State of residence owned by the gear site, you get the gear "tax free" (that saves 7%), and if you wait for the right moment (National Holidays, special events, etc...) you can easily find another 10% to 15% off sale going on.

I NEVER want the actual stores, music stores, guitar shops, etc...to go out of business, but they're gonna have to find a way to be somewhat competitive with on-line deals. The two guitar/music stores I have in my area will not budge or compromise on ANY price they have set in stone. I can go look at a high end item in these stores, and KNOW I can get it for 17% to 22% less on line.
You'll always have the "hands on" folks that will keep these places in business...but if they want to convert cheap bastards like me, they might wanna 'tweek' their bargaining technique.

The one thing I would NOT even consider buying without trying is an expensive guitar (Fender American)...if I'm going to pay that kind of money for a guitar, I'm going to play it first and make sure it has the exact feel and sound I'm looking for.
